Man arrested for stabbing father

by The AV Times Staff • January 13, 2014

LITTLEROCK – A 30-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly stabbed his father during an argument and then barricaded himself for several hours inside a Littlerock home, authorities said.

Cesar Jovany Linares surrendered after a seven-hour standoff, and he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and obstructing/delaying peace officers, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau. Read it below:

On early Sunday morning, January 12, 2014, Palmdale Sheriff’s Station responded to a call reporting a suspect fighting with people in the area and a possible stabbing victim at the location. Once on scene, deputies determined the suspect [Cesar Jovany Linares ] had cut and stabbed his father during an argument.

The suspect was in the front yard when deputies arrived, but refused to follow their instructions and fled into the house [11200 Block of East Avenue R-8, Littlerock].

The Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) also responded to the location while Palmdale Station personnel deployed an armored vehicle to the scene, contained the location, and evacuated neighboring homes. A search warrant was also obtained for the location.

Hours later at 8:10 AM, CNT personnel established communication with the suspect and convinced him to exit the location at about 8:35 AM. The suspect was taken into custody without incident by SEB personnel.

He was booked at Palmdale Station for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Obstructing/Delaying Peace Officers. He is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail and is due to appear in court on January 14, 2014 at Antelope Valley Courthouse.

The victim’s injuries were not considered life-threatening. He was treated by paramedics at the scene.
