Community Prayer Service to focus on Sandy Hook victims

by The AV Times Staff • December 19, 2012

LANCASTER – The public is invited to an annual Christmas Prayer Service this evening at Lancaster United Methodist Church.

Prayers are especially invited for the parents, children, staff, first responders and everyone affected by the violence and tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The event is also open to anyone looking for a quiet place to pray during the Christmas season, organizers said.

The event will feature quiet prayer, candle lighting, inspiring images, Holy Communion and prayer in the music of Taizé community, organizers said.

“It is a quiet, safe place to be in prayer,” said organizer and Prayer Team leader Joanne Van Hook. “Join us for a time of prayer with God to pray for others, for ourselves and for our world.”

The Christmas Prayer Service will be at 7 p.m., today (Dec. 19) at Lancaster United Methodist Church, located at 918 West Avenue J in Lancaster.

For more information on this event, call 661-942-0419 or visit www.LancasterUnited.org.
