LANCASTER – Fourteen young scholars and their families were recognized at an ‘Ice Cream Social’ held recently at the Antelope Valley Country Club in Palmdale.
The event was hosted by the Greater Antelope Valley Association of REALTORS® (GAVAR) as part of their 10th Annual Scholarship Program, which awards annual scholarships to young men and women whose families work within the Real Estate industry.
“Assisting these students in continuing their education provides a deep sense of satisfaction to the Association knowing that we are able to help them move closer to their educational goals,” said Pamela Vose, CEO of the REALTOR® organization.
The 2012 Scholarship Recipients are:
- Cameron Carvalho

Since the scholarship program began, GAVAR has given $183,000 (including this year’s scholarship amounts) in financial assistance to deserving students of families who are members of the REALTOR® trade organization.
Traditionally, the scholarships were given during commencement week at each student’s high school. Acknowledging the achievements of the young scholars, and personalizing the accomplishment, the GAVAR Board organized the ice cream social for the selected students and their families.
Student interests this year range from Engineering to Marine Biology. Other interests include Veterinary Medicine, criminal law, psychology and music. This year’s scholarship task force, at GAVAR, involved Diana Leer, Chuck Linn, Adrienne Lewis-Reca and Lilia Case.
