Dirty laundry: Four arrested for stealing washing machines

by The AV Times Staff • January 5, 2012

PALMDALE – Three men and a woman were arrested for allegedly ripping a washing machine out of an apartment complex early Tuesday morning in East Palmdale, according to authorities.

Ricardo Garcia, 55; Juan Ponce, 29; Orlando Garcia, 43; and Christina Luna,33 were in jail Thursday on burglary charges.

The following is the press report from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station:

The incident began when an alert neighbor, near the 900 Block of East Avenue Q, called Palmdale Station stating they heard screeching noises coming from the laundry room of their complex. When they looked out of the window they saw three males and one female pushing the complex’s commercial washing machine out of the laundry room and into the bed of Toyota truck waiting nearby. The witness then watched as the four took the washer from the complex to their residence just down the street near the 38700 [Block] of 9th Street East.

Deputies surrounded the location and detained Ricardo Garcia, Orlando Garcia, and Juan Ponce hiding inside of the residence. Inside, deputies not only discovered the stolen washing machine, but an additional commercial washing machine and narcotics.

All three suspects were transported to the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station, where they were booked on charges of Burglary. Garcia was additionally charged with “Possession of Narcotics” and “Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia.” The female suspect seen with the trio of burglars was later identified as Christina Luna. She was taken into custody on charges of Burglary Wednesday morning at her home. The ongoing investigation is being handled by the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station Detective Bureau.
