Palmdale to host Thanksgiving Break Day Camps

by The AV Times Staff • November 15, 2011

PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s department of parks and recreation will host Thanksgiving Break Day Camps for children currently enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., starting Nov. 21 through Nov. 23 at Palmdale Oasis Park, 3850 East Avenue S and at Marie Kerr Park, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd.

“Children will no doubt enjoy the cheerful holiday-themed activities,” said Palmdale’s Recreation Coordinator Jennifer Tallakson. “It also gives parents a much needed opportunity to send their kids to a safe and supervised day camp while they are working or preparing for holiday festivities.”

Camp registration is available daily or weekly.  Daily registration allows the flexibility to register for one or two days.  A three-day rate for Thanksgiving camp is also available.

The daily cost is $25 for Palmdale residents and $30 for non-residents.  The three-day camp cost is $57 for Palmdale residents and $68 for non-residents.

Sibling discounts are available for the second and third child.

Among the activities planned for camp are team and individual contests, outdoor group games, sport competitions, quiet time activities and fall themed craft projects.

Advanced registration is recommended and required, as spaces are limited.

To register, go to www.cityofpalmdale.org/playpalmdale, or stop by the parks and recreation office, located at 38260 10th St. East, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 6 pm.
