PALMDALE – The California Energy Commission unanimously voted Wednesday to grant a permit for the Palmdale Hybrid Power Plant. The project is expected to create 600 jobs during its construction, 40 to 50 permanent jobs when the plant opens, and infuse over $5 million into the local economy annually.

The 377-acre plant site is located south of East Avenue M and is part of  a 600-acre, city-owned property. Commercial operation of the project is planned for the summer of 2013
