PALMDALE – As the sun rose Wednesday morning, nearly 50 campers were getting set up to begin their 24-hour campout prior to the opening of Palmdale’s first Chick-fil-A restaurant, located at 732 W. Rancho Vista Boulevard. The campers will be fed and entertained for the next 24 hours as they pass the time away, according to Chick-fil-A.
A statement issued by Chick-fil-A described the experience of one camper:
“Jane Amptman, who has camped out at 12 Chick-fil-A openings, has gathered her standard equipment that includes a rocker that has traveled to half of those openings and some nine siblings, nieces and nephews to make it a family affair… Amptman is beyond thrilled to be doing her hometown Chick-fil-A opening and surrounded by family to experience the next 24 hours.”
The Palmdale Chick-fil-A “First 100” event will award a one-year supply of free Chick-fil-A Meals (52 meals with each consisting of a Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, medium Waffle Potato Fries™ and a medium beverage) to the first 100 eligible adults in line when the doors open at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15.

These people don’t know what CJD can do to an otherwise healthy human. Sad.

Smart-N-Final put a bid on the Haggen grocery store located at Avenue N and 50th Street West. If approved, it will be a full-service grocery store. I was at one in Paso Robles recently and it was pretty impressive! …Was hoping for a Sprouts or a Whole Foods, but this will do.

I don’t think Whole Foods fancies itself as a ‘neighborhood’ supermarket.
Don’t they tend to locate in mostly busy commercial areas and not in a shopping center?
Matt K. says
I guess it depends on where you’re at? In West L.A., where there’s lots of money, Whole Foods stores there almost seem like ‘neighborhood’ markets because there are so many clustered between the 405 and PCH. If they were going to put a Whole Foods in the A.V., I would think the Haggen’s location would have been preferable, but I’m not sure? Personally I’ve always thought that Ashley Furniture building across from the mall on 10th would have made a beautiful Whole Foods storefront…perhaps someday?
William says
Whole Foods would most likely have to be somewhere near the Antelope Valley Mall where all the synergy is.
When the Walmart Neighborhood supermarket was going into Rancho Vista, there were residents there clamoring for a Whole Foods as though wishing would make it come true.
I said it would most likely be by the Mall back then too if anywhere in the Antelope Valley.
I would love a Jaguar dealership in the AV but I’m realistic.
There are 4-5 Walmarts in the AV and they are all crowded so I’m wondering why people think a Whole Foods should locate in their particular neighborhood of all places. I point out the crowded Walmarts to illustrate the demographics in the AV.
Are the remaining shoppers who don’t shop at Walmart and can’t even keep an Albertson’s in business going to be able to support a Whole Foods?
I was recently up in Santa Cruz and Monterey and each of those 2 small cities has a Whole Foods. Now, why would that be?

Hobby Lobby and Aldi’s grocery are both coming to Palmdale too!
