MOJAVE – Loved ones have set up an online memorial fund for the 16-year-old Mojave High School student struck and killed by a car while walking to school this past Monday.
Raven Crystal Knight was “a beautiful, smart, funny, outgoing girl and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her,” reads the page, which was set up to raise $5,000 for the family for funeral expenses.

The collision that killed Raven happened around 6:55 a.m. Monday (Nov. 18) on Business Route 58, east of Leslie Street, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
Raven and her 12-year-old brother were crossing the road, in a marked crosswalk, when Raven was struck by a Toyota Corolla driven by 51-year-old Meixing Lu of Artesia, the CHP report states. Her 12-year-old brother was not injured, but Raven died at the scene.
The Toyota’s driver suffered no injuries and neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the collision, CHP officials said.
The incident remains under investigation and no arrests have been made.
