PALMDALE – A 70-year-old man shot to death this past weekend during a gunfight with his son at their Palmdale home has been identified as John Charles Duft, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
The incident happened around 7:40 p.m. Saturday (May 25) at a home in the 5600 Block of Magda Court, according to press report from the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.
“The information we have is that both men were at home and there was some type of a verbal dispute that resulted in gunfire being exchanged between the two men,” said Lt. Steve Jauch of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. “Both of them were taken to a local hospital and the father died.”
“The son is still listed in critical but stable condition,” Jauch continued.
The son’s name has not yet been released. An earlier Sheriff’s press report identified him only as a 39-year-old White male.
“No arrests have been made as of yet, but it’s still an ongoing investigation,” Jauch said.
Additional information on this incident was not immediately available.
