LANCASTER – A 23-year-old man was carjacked at gunpoint early Sunday morning, authorities said.
The incident happened around 3 a.m. in front of the man’s home in the 43600 Block of 22nd Street East in Lancaster, according to Lancaster Station Community Relations deputy Michael Rust.
“Two male Hispanics in their 20s wearing dark clothing forced him into his own car,” Rust said. “The victim said one of them had an AK-47 [assault rifle].”
Rust said the men drove the victim to the area of 25th Street East and Avenue K, before the victim was able to escape.
“He opened the door and jumped out the vehicle,” Rust said.
Rust said the incident is still under investigation, but there is probably more to the story.
“There could have been something else going on, but we did take a kidnapping and carjacking report because they forced him into his own car and made him ride away,” Rust said.
It was unclear whether the victim’s white 2000 Chevy Impala had been recovered as of Monday afternoon, Rust said.
