Man killed in hit and run accident Tuesday

Officers are still searching for the driver involved in a hit and run accident that killed a 64-year-old man Tuesday night.

The California Highway Patrol reports at approximately 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, John V. List was crossing 170th Street East (just south of Avenue O) in an area without a crosswalk, when he walked directly into the path of a 2007 Nissan Frontier, driven by John A. Curry, 56, of Lancaster.

According to the report, Curry swerved to the right to avoid hitting List. But, the Nissan Frontier still collided with List and knocked him on to the southbound lane.  That’s when an unknown party traveling south on 170th Street East hit List again, killing him. The vehicle, which was described by witnesses as a dark colored Ford F-150 or SUV, then fled the scene.

The California Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information on this accident to contact the CHP’s Antelope Valley Office at 661-948-8541.
