\"\"<\/a>LANCASTER \u2013 The Lancaster Auto Mall will host a very special appearance by Old St. Nick on Sunday (Dec. 16) benefiting the Grace Resource Center.<\/p>\n

The event will feature snow, sledding, and Santa Claus parachuting from an airplane into the Lancaster Auto Mall.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach year, the Lancaster Auto Mall offers a number of one-of-a-kind events for local residents such their annual Halloween cruise, this year\u2019s Food Truck Frenzy, and of course, the parachuting Santa,\u201d said Mayor R. Rex Parris. \u201cI would like to thank them for their continued commitment to our community and residents.\u201d<\/p>\n

Admission to the event is free.<\/p>\n

Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable or canned food to the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cChristmas is the season for giving, and for enjoying time with your loved ones,\u201d said Tom Fuller, president of the Lancaster Auto Mall Association and co-owner of Hunter Dodge Chrysler Jeep. \u201cThe Lancaster Auto Mall dealers encourage all local residents bring their families and friends to enjoy this spectacular holiday event, while benefiting those in need.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event will begin at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 16, in the Lancaster Auto Mall near Motor Lane and Drivers\u2019 Way.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will be opportunities to enjoy the snow, a sledding hill and hot cocoa. Santa will \u201cdrop by\u201d around noon, and the event will continue until 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Reminder: CHiPS for Kids Toy Drive at Walmart Sunday<\/strong><\/h3>\n

On Sunday, December 16, from 4 to 9 p.m., CHP Officers will be at the Walmarts on Valley Central Way in Lancaster and on 10th Street West in Palmdale in support of the CHiPS for Kids Toy Drive.<\/p>\n

Now in its 25th year, CHiPS for Kids is an annual effort by the California Highway Patrol to collect toys from the community and distribute them to underprivileged children for Christmas.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor some of these kids, this may be the only Christmas toys that they get this year,\u201d said CHP Captain Steve Urrea.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re doing any shopping out in the Antelope Valley, either in the Walmart in Lancaster or the Palmdale\u2019s Sam\u2019s Club or Walmart, feel free to stop by and drop anything off for the kids that are not going to be able to have a present,\u201d said Walmart Store Manager Trent Blankensip. \u201cWe appreciate your help this holiday.\u201d<\/p>\n
