PALMDALE – The city of Palmdale is accepting applications for volunteer Administrative Hearing Officers to render independent and unbiased decisions and judgments in accordance with the Palmdale Municipal Code (PMC) on Administrative and Parking Citations when an appeal and hearing have been requested. The deadline to apply is Friday, Sept. 1, at 6 p.m.
The ideal candidates will have some education or expertise in the fields of public or business administration; public service or safety; construction management; law enforcement; code or parking enforcement; land use; real estate; or law or pre-law, constitutional rights strongly preferred. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
Administrative Hearing Officers will conduct hearings at least one business day per month, examine evidence, and comply with the PMC and all relevant state and federal laws in performing duties and rendering decisions. As part of the final selection process, applicants will be required to pass a Livescan fingerprint submission via the California Department of Justice, and if appointed, a Statement of Economic Interests, Form 700 will be required. Administrative Hearing Officers do not receive compensation and are not eligible for reimbursement.
