The crash was reported around 11:15 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the intersection of Avenue L and 20th Street East, according to a news release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

The preliminary investigation indicated a man in a Lexus was traveling northbound on 20th Street East and reportedly did not stop at the red traffic signal at Avenue L, according to the news release.

“As the Lexus drove through the intersection, it collided with a Ford which was traveling westbound on Avenue L with four passengers,” the news release states. “The male adult in the rear passenger seat suffered fatal injuries… A male juvenile suffered significant injuries and is in critical condition at the hospital.”

A source at the scene said three people were hospitalized with critical injuries and one was transported with minor injuries.

“Speed appears to be a factor in the collision. The driver of the Lexus is suspected of driving under the influence,” the news release states.

No further details were released on the incident. Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to call the traffic investigators at the Lancaster Sheriff Station at 661-948-8466.
