LANCASTER – A woman was struck by an SUV and killed early Friday morning in Lancaster, authorities said.
It happened around 2:25 a.m. Friday, June 9, on Sierra Highway at Lancaster Boulevard, according to a news release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.
“Preliminary investigation indicates a female adult pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the intersection of the location and was fatally injured. The vehicle left the location without contacting law enforcement or providing aid. The vehicle is described by witnesses as a brown Chevy Tahoe,” the sheriff’s news release states.
The victim’s name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
“The cause of the collision is still being investigated,” sheriff’s officials said in the news release. No further information was immediately available.

This hit and run epidemic is awful. But lawmakers aren’t blameless in this problem either. That’s because accidents don’t happen anymore! Every kind of mishap is a serious crime now so no wonder nobody stops. And if lawmakers insist on doing it this way, they better understand that most people that flee are never identified.
