Teenager on scooter hit by SUV, killed in Palmdale

PALMDALE – A teenage boy riding a kick scooter against traffic on Palmdale Boulevard was struck by an SUV and killed Sunday evening, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 6:36 p.m. Sunday, March 5, on Palmdale Boulevard at 80th Street East, California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball told City News Service.

Paramedics rushed the boy to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:19 p.m., Kimball said. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.

CHP Officer Brian Grayson told reporters at the scene the teen was riding the scooter eastbound in the middle of the westbound lane of Palmdale Boulevard when he was struck by a westbound white Toyota Rav4.

A source at the scene said there are no street lights along Palmdale Boulevard in that area.

Further information on the circumstances surrounding the crash was not immediately available. Anyone with information surrounding this crash is encouraged to contact the Antelope CHP office at 661-948-8541.

        Hi Cherelle, I just want to offer my condolence’s to you and your family. I lived in the same apartment as Bruce and he was around my sons age just a little older by a year. They used to play together and he was always a nice kid. Not a mean bone in his body, I even helped him fix a bike he had, It saddens me that this happened to him. RIP Bruce. Dont mind these people in this chat they are just miserable and crave attention.
