PALMDALE – Ronda Perez is Palmdale’s new city manager, officials announced Friday, Feb. 3. Perez joined Palmdale in the fall of 2021 as assistant city manager, and was named acting city manager in Dec. 2021 before being appointed to the role of interim city manager in March 2022.
In a closed session on Jan. 11, the Palmdale City Council provided a unanimous (5-0) vote declaring a positive performance evaluation of Perez. The council met again in a closed session on Jan. 18 to discuss permanently filling the city manager position. They agreed that Perez should be appointed city manager, thus removing the interim title. The hire is a distinct milestone because it is the first time women have occupied the mayor, mayor pro tem, and city manager positions in Palmdale’s 60-year history.
“It is an honor to continue to serve the residents of our community,” Perez stated. “I look forward to working with our mayor, city council, city staff, and community partners to usher in a new innovative future for Palmdale.”
The city council approved a three-year contract ending Jan.18, 2026, with two options of two-year extensions. Perez will be paid a base salary of $299,750 annually with benefits. Previously, she served as the executive director of Antelope Valley Economic Development and Growth Enterprise (AV EDGE). Perez also served in various roles within local government for more than 14 years,
including parks, recreation, arts director, and assistant city manager. She has extensive experience in capital project management, landscape maintenance, park development, special events, entrepreneurial ventures, strategic planning, communications, code enforcement, housing, economic development, finance, public works, and program creation and implementation.
Perez earned a master’s degree in criminal justice from California State University, Long Beach, as well as dual bachelor’s degrees in political science and criminology, law, and society from the University of California, Irvine.

Freedom Coalition made fools of themselves by losing control and yelling out. Mike Ross did not help his own cause.
Tim Scott says
“Made fools of themselves”? I thought that was a done deal a long time ago.
timscottisaTOOL says
yes the know it all who only comments on others comments back at it again
Tim Scott says
LOL…notice that my comment wasn’t actually about the comment I replied to, it was about the ‘Freedom Coalition.’
So this one off screen name coward is calling me names for “commenting on others comments” when I am not. The real irony being that they are in fact commenting on nothing but my comment. No doubt they wonder why I make fun of them.

The word, ‘hypocrisy,’ just ain’t in your lexicon, is it?

Or “self-awareness”. Or “irony”.
Lancaster Mafia Must Go says
Thank goodness Hoffbauer is gone. Now get rid of Bishop, Loa, Alacarn, Bishop and any other Lancaster controlled people and maybe Palmdale will get moving again
Tim Scott says
This article may not be the best place to post optimistic thoughts on getting rid of the Lancaster Mafia, given Ms Perez’ origins.

…don’t forget Bishop
Call Me Daddy says
Bishop is Marv’s boy. It must be awful being owned by him and the Lancaster Mafia. He’s young and already his future is being dictated by old, corrupt and out of touch schiesters. At least he gets free food and drinks at the fair in the VIP section.

Wow, nice article. Congratulations, Ronda Perez. I hope the best for you and my city.
