Motorcycle passenger killed in Palmdale area crash

by The AV Times Staff • November 28, 2022

PALMDALE – A female passenger on a motorcycle died Saturday morning when the bike collided with a vehicle in the Palmdale area, authorities said.

The fatal collision happened around 10:46 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, on Avenue O west of 130th Street East, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

Richard C. Jackson, 63, of Lake Los Angeles was riding a 2003 Harley Davidson eastbound on Avenue O at an undetermined rate of speed, and a 2019 Volkswagen was also traveling eastbound on Avenue O, ahead of Jackson’s motorcycle, according to the CHP report.

“For reasons still under investigation” the motorcycle and the Volkswagen collided, and Jackson and his passenger were ejected during the crash, the CHP report states.

They were transported to Antelope Valley Hospital where the passenger — a 31-year-old woman from Lancaster — was pronounced dead, according to the CHP report. Her name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification. Jackson sustained major injuries in the crash, according to the CHP report.

The Volkswagen’s driver, 45-year-old Takashi Sakaguchi of Torrance, was not injured in the collision, the CHP report states.

“The involvement of alcohol and/or drugs as a factor in this crash is under investigation,” the CHP report states.

Anyone with information regarding this crash in encouraged to contact Officer J. Helble at the Antelope Valley Area CHP office at 661-948-8541.
