HOLLYWOOD – A Lancaster man was arrested in connection with the brutal attack of a woman in Hollywood last week that was captured on cell phone video and widely distributed on social media, authorities said.

Dammion Jamarr Adkins, 33, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, and booked on suspicion of felony battery with serious bodily injury, according to a news release by the Los Angeles Police Department and the LASD inmate system. He is being held without bail.

The crime occurred around 2:15 a.m. Friday, July 29, in the 1700 block of North Las Palmas Avenue, according to the LAPD news release.

“Officers’ investigation revealed that a female victim was knocked unconscious, then kicked in the head by the suspect,” the LAPD news release states. “The incident was captured on cell phone video and received significant news and social media attention.”

The victim stated: “Not only was socked multiples[sic] WHILE BEING UNCONSCIOUS, the man in the white t-shirt continued to kick my face in. Lancaster is the “last stop” in LA County for this trash. They ultimately end up in:

    A.) Prison
    B.) Victorville or California City
    C.) Las Vegas

    Take your pick!

What are you trying so ineffectually to say?

I believe attempted murder charges may be appropriate. Kicking an opponent when they are down and unconscious is the epitome of cowardice.

Well, maybe. In the heat of the moment it can be hard to tell if someone is unconscious and even if they are how long they will stay that way. In the modern world you also always have to consider guns. Before I walk away I am going to be sure that I won’t be shot in the back in the process.

But I only fight people who start fights so I don’t feel bad if they get hurt. This case is sad.

I don’t start fights but I do finish them… quickly and effectively. I have never found it necessary to attack an unconscious opponent lying on the ground. That is dishonorable and cowardly which, to me, is a core personality failure and far worse than mere acts of passion and fear.

That’s because you have honor. A commodity that gets more rare with each generation of our rotten culture.

Too many westerns as a kid, I guess… I don’t regret it in the least, though. Having honor in honorless environments has been more helpful than not for me. I could regale you with examples, but I’ll spare you, instead. ;-)

“Unconscious” is a range, not a clearly defined state.

Bad guess. Stinger is more in the nightstick and handcuffs set, which is why he and I differ on this subject. He can afford to stand over the subdued opposition and keep an eye on them so that if they aren’t really incapacitated and go for a gun he can deal with it. If I put someone down I have to deal with the reality that when they arrive the boys in blue won’t GAF about who or how it started so I have to walk away…and as I said, I have no interest in being shot in the back so I will make sure of the person I put down.

Logic is essential in combat of all kinds, including hand to hand engagement, BeeEss.

            August 8, 2022 at 12:37 pm

The point, Tim, is that the opposing force is subdued to allow me to stand over them. This is frequently easier said than done. Circumstances in combat are fluid, requiring quick alterations in methods to be applied in a given situation. I did not always have the luxury of having the requisite allotted accoutrements for the number of opponents being faced, necessitating using more blunt force than I would have liked on a few, but it was never necessary to kick anyone when they were unconscious. Ever.

The point was that you have the opportunity to stand over them. There is very little pressure on you to walk away. Others do not have that luxury, me among them.

Hmmm. Considering your personal circumstances, I can see why staying for local law enforcement might be disconcerting. Still, I have serious doubts that you would continue to kick an unconscious victim rather than make good your escape to safety.

I do take that “shot in the back by someone that was more conscious than I thought” prospect seriously though. I mean I’m not gonna spend time really wailing on some hunk of meat, but I’m not going to rely on “yeah they seem incapacitated at a glance.”

When is society going to overcome the fear of stating the obvious fact that AT LEAST HALF of video violent crime in LA are black thugs going overboard and or killing. The video proof is there. From business robberies, shoving Asians over, shooting over fries, shoes, whites, whatever. There seems to be a common disregard for life, even their own. When you realize 5%(black men between 15 and 35) are committing 50% or more of LA’s violent crime there is certainly a worth while fact worth calling out. And don’t give me a f’n sob story. Poor people in Indonesia, China, and Muslim nations don’t behave so lousy as these.
