LANCASTER – The city of Lancaster invites local residents to participate in an Earth Day Community Cleanup on Saturday, April 30.

During the event, participants can clean up around their homes, neighborhoods, or any area of the Lancaster where they see trash. Collected waste can then be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on April 30 at the City of Lancaster Maintenance Yard, 615 West Ave. H, where there will be large dumpsters available for use, courtesy of Waste Management.

“I’m grateful to our residents for being part of Earth Day cleanup efforts taking place around the world this month,” Mayor R. Rex Parris said in a news release. “Together, we can help reduce the amount of trash in our environment – which is not only good for the Earth but also good for building up community pride around a more beautiful Lancaster.”

The city of Lancaster website provides several options for residents to do their part in helping to care for the Earth[read more here]. While on the website, residents are invited to check out the city’s EcoHero shows, designed to show 5 to 9-year-old children how they can get involved in Earth Day and make an impact on the world. For additional information, visit: https://www.cityoflancasterca.org/our-city/residents/special-events/earth-day.

Lancaster needs a good cleaning. Start on Fern Street and give it a clean sweep of Rex and his hand picked yes men.

Here’s a bit of trivia for you Mr Clean

“Duke Fishman (1906-1977), the “Official Greeter” at Avalon, … was most notable as the original, advertising character for “Mr. Clean”.

If only the bums would participate in cleaning it up too… The right way. Then I would feel compelled to lend them a helping hand or two.

I won’t feel compelled to to lend a helping hand until there’s a way to stop illegal dumping from continuing.

If it continues I’m compelled to cancel Waste Management and dispose of my garbage the same way.
