LANCASTER – Authorities have identified the female motorist who was killed after allegedly driving the wrong way on the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Lancaster early Monday morning.
She was 34-year-old Kolisha Mitchell-King of Inglewood, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
The fatal head-on collision happened around 12:04 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, on SR-14 north of Avenue H, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
Mitchell-King was driving a 2014 Hyundai southbound in the northbound No. 1 lane when she crashed head-on into a 2013 Kia that was traveling northbound, the CHP report states. Mitchell-King was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 1-year-old girl who was riding in the vehicle “sustained minor injuries as a result of the traffic crash and is expected to survive,” the CHP report states.
The Kia’s driver — 18-year-old Aidan W. Rakisits of Rosamond — sustained moderate injuries in the crash, according to the CHP report.
“The involvement of alcohol and/or drugs is unknown at this time and is still under investigation,” the CHP report states.
This collision remains under investigation by the CHP Antelope Valley Area Office. Any witnesses are encouraged to contact Officer J. Church at 661-948-8541.

Damn right Cal Trans is responsible for alot of accidents. Ave I has a sign to turn left to enter the 14 south bound. I turned left at night and just about entered a southbound exit right next to the northbound entrance. I was sober and almost got myself in a head on collision. Lucky for me there was no traffic exiting the 14. It can happen to any body the way Cal Trans has side by side exits and entrances. Common sense for a northbound exit to be on the northbound side of the freeway – right? Well it isn’t in Lancaster.

I never realized that but you are so right. Maybe they put a sign on the left side saying exit only
I didn’t know Koko, but my BFF did and I understand she was a real peach. I’m not one to condone dui, it should never happen. However in this case, Koko went out and had a drink like so many other people do everyday.. She wasn’t an everyday drinker, she made a horrible mistake, show me someone who hasn’t. However this was a really bad decision. Let’s all learn something from this. Please, please
don’t drink and drive. To Kokos family, my heart goes out to you. I Know you are broken, May time help heal your pain. God bless

RIP Koko… I had the pleasure of working with Koko and becoming friends. She was a beautiful, easy going and compassionate person. This is truly a tragic ACCIDENT. My heart goes out to her family. God Bless.

As nobody posting here was witness to this incident, please let the family and friends grieve without the added burden of trolling strangers trying to add unnecessary pain to the indescribable pain they must be dealing with.
The cruelness of the internet has eroded common decency. Veiled or blatant racism with comments from others who sit in judgement without knowledge or facts just to inflame tensions and create more division among our country is beyond sad.
Condolences to those who knew the deceased is all that needs to be expressed by strangers. Please add my condolences to those who have already respectfully related theirs.
Michael Pree, who has already forgiven those who spewed meanness, should give us all hope that kindness and understanding shall win this battle for the soul of this weary nation if we find ways to be compassionate and caring.
Peace to all.

We are all entitled to are on opinions respectfully but we all have a heart and a feeling of emotion so pls don’t shame anyone who lost there lives just read and go respectively you don’t know her and I can put it in words of how great of a woman she was let alone mother to our daughter and my 4 other children blessings to you all and I do forgive the negative comments

For the people who are leaving comments about the deceased being intoxicated or on a suicide mission she might have been coming home from or on her way to work which is close to Santa Monica. She was an amazing, helpful and all around nice person who always spoke highly of her children and took pride in serving others, especially vets where we work. So before you callously slander someones name, think about how YOUR families and friends would feel if it were you who passed under circumstances like these? Have some respect for your fellow human being because no one knows when or how they will be called back to our creator…

South bound in the North bound lanes at Avenue H and coming home from work from Santa Monica after midnight.
My bs meter is pegged
Typical comment from someone who has probably never taken any responsibility for anything in their entire life.
I hope I’m wrong but probability is screaming different
Maybe let’s not drink and drive and you won’t be driving on the wrong side of the road. The high school senior is lucky to be alive after she carelessly drove drunk thinking only of herself.

It’s never safe driving the streets or freeway at night in the Antelope valley. it’s poorly lit and all the signs are fading may kolisha rest in heaven.
Maybe the headlights coming at you, and cars going the same way on the other should’ve been a clue.
I’ll take impaired driver for $200

They need to label the onramps better. This is happening more and more often. Green signs with faded arrows are not helping the situation.
I agree, the 14 needs way better safety protocols. This has to be one of the most dangerous Hwy in the country.
It is extremely dark out there and the signs are very hard to read and on that road there is like one entry for one way on one side and one going the other way right next to it. I came near to doing this on ave g. Completely sober and not tired. I thought I should turn one way but the angle of the turn seemed off, it was too sharp of a turn. so I didn’t chance it. I didn’t see any do not enter sign that I remember. But I got close enough to start turning the wheel and then feeling hesitant and deciding to make a u turn to read the signs better thank Jesus. Usually I would think dui in a wrong way,I but in this case I can truly see how this could have happened to her and be a complete accident. Thank god for the two who Survived and let’s not smear her name in public.
how about if others dont drink and drive AND/OR use the fwys and other people to commit suicide.
