Sheriff Villanueva raises $1.25 million for reelection campaign

by City News Service • January 7, 2022 3 Comments

Sheriff Alex Villanueva [LASD]
Sheriff Alex Villanueva‘s campaign for reelection has raised more than $1.25 million it was announced Friday. His campaign has about $1 million on hand and has raised more than $900,000 in 2021.

Villanueva was elected as Los Angeles County Sheriff in 2018 and ran a campaign of “reform, rebuild and restore.”

Villanueva’s campaign expects to report increased fundraising numbers in 2022.

“The public is desperate for solutions to out-of-control homelessness and crime. The three-card Monte game of distraction against the Sheriff by the political establishment has failed. We will win in June,” Sheriff Villanueva’s campaign director, Javier Gonzalez, said. “The political elite will regret listening to their woke, well-off, privileged staff instead of listening to the concerns of immigrant communities, working class African- Americans, middle class homeowners and small-business owners who have borne the brunt of rising crime and out-of-control homelessness.”

Villanueva is expected to make his first announcement of endorsements and present a full election team in the coming days, according to a release.

I wonder if you can still buy a concealed weapons permit for a big campaign donation to the sheriff like Robert Blake did with Sherman Block, etc.
