Three Ways to Find Talent to Boost Your Firm’s Profit

by Carol Trehearn, Content Partner • January 5, 2022 Leave a Comment

There’s talent everywhere in the job market. That’s especially the case today, with many sectors experiencing a peak in people handing in their notices and looking for something new in what’s been dubbed the “Great Resignation.” But how can your firm attract new talent, while retaining the most talented individuals who are powering the success of your firm? This article has the answers, showing you how you can get the best brains behind your business in 2022.

Outsourcing

For anything urgent or specialist, it’s often easier to outsource than to bring on a handful of talented individuals to your firm on full-time contracts. That’s why there are thousands of agencies out there who cater towards all of those technical, involved tasks that it would take a whole team to fulfill internally. From branding to web development, smaller firms especially should outsource rather than spend weeks or months hiring talent.

There are also some incredible companies out there who may be better-suited to helping you than talented individuals. The UK best SEO company, for instance, can help you rapidly increase your traffic by working on the formulas that determine who sees your website on Google. It’s involved, technical work – and it might take a whole team of researchers, technicians, copywriters and more to provide you an excellent service that you just can’t perform in-house.

Wages and Benefits

If you’re concerned about employees leaving your firm, and you’re also searching yourself for newly jobless workers, you’ll know that one of the key incentives is the wage you offer, and the concurrent benefits that sweeten the deal. Higher wages often attract talent, but it’s sometimes the pension scheme and insurance offered that can really be the decider, especially for older workers who have families to consider in their job choices.

So, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t push up your wages and increase the breadth and quality of your benefits if you’re looking to find and retain talent. But you should be careful of seeing employee compensation as a panacea. It’s one way to attract employees, but your culture might be why they stay.

Better Culture

People are leaving their jobs, according to multiple surveys, to search for a better work-life balance. And companies that are aware of this change in priorities, and who offer a culture that corresponds with them, will likely attract top talent. High performers may well have left very well-paid jobs because of a poor culture – and these skilled personnel may join your firm if you can show them a different, more enticing culture.

But what should you change? Well, there’s plenty to consider. Flexible working, or hybrid working, should now be your norm. You should be willing to listen to all cases of people who’d rather work from home. And when people are in the office, make the workplace friendly, kind and gentle – the sort of place people will want to commute into. All this will help you attract top talent.

There you have it: three important methods for getting the biggest and best brains behind your business in 2022.
