PALMDALE – Palmdale Water District has named Dennis Hoffmeyer as its new Finance Manager/Chief Financial Officer, the agency announced Monday.
Hoffmeyer, who has been an employee for 32 years, was the accounting supervisor for 13 years before his promotion this month. He replaces Michael Williams, who retired after 15 years at the helm of the finance department.
“Dennis has become a major contributor to ensuring the District’s finances are solid and transparent,” said PWD General Manager Dennis D.
LaMoreaux. “He is well-qualified and prepared for his new position.”
Hoffmeyer oversees a staff of eight who are tasked with accounting, billing, collections, payroll, purchasing, bond financing, capital asset
management and the annual budget. The team recently presented a $27.8 million budget for 2022 that was approved 5-0 by the Board of Directors.
“I am grateful and honored to have been given this wonderful opportunity to continue working for the customers,” Hoffmeyer said. “With my great team, we will continue to build on the strong foundation that has been set to ensure that the District is financially sound and secure.”
Hoffmeyer began working for PWD in 1989 as a drafter. With a background in computer drafting, he soon assumed the role of an Information Systems Specialist. He later became a senior accountant, then the accounting supervisor. On Nov. 1, he was officially promoted to his new position following the retirement of Williams, who trained him for several months to ensure a smooth transition.
Hoffmeyer earned his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems with a minor in finance from the University of Phoenix in 2004. Four years later, he spent 18 months taking government, nonprofit and federal accounting courses and trainings at the University of California, Riverside Extension. He recently completed his Master of Science in Strategic Finance from Bellevue University in Nebraska.
