Sheriff’s custody assistant charged with trying to bring drugs into jail

by The AV Times Staff • November 9, 2021

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s custody assistant was charged with trying to bring methamphetamine into the Men’s Central Jail, the District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

Jose Flores, 42, was stopped Nov. 28, 2018, by law enforcement officers in the jail’s parking structure, and more than 100 grams of methamphetamine were allegedly found inside the vehicle he was in, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Flores — who was charged last week — is set to be arraigned March 8 on one felony count each of transportation of a controlled substance and attempted bringing of an illegal substance into a jail.

“The public’s trust is eroded when law enforcement officers attempt to circumvent the law,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement announcing the charges.

is 100 grams a lot? Sounded like a lot but thats about 4 ounces, which doesn’t sound as big. I am not sure how much people use, I would think they would go through that rather quick in prison. Hey, at least their prison jobs will get done a lot faster. I heard that that the jails here put together the Build A Bear shells for the mall.

Wait…. He was caught November 28, 2018 and they just barely charged him in November of 2021?

Next thing you’re gonna tell me he’s been on “paid leave” for the past 3 years???

100 grams is 100 grams more than he was supposed to have. So yes, it’s a lot.
