PALMDALE – Two males, aged 17 and 18, were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Palmdale Saturday night, and one of the motorists fled the scene on foot, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, in the area of 10th Street West and Avenue O-8, where the two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, according to a watch sergeant at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale station.

Paramedics dispatched to the location reported that two other people suffered injuries but declined to be transported to an area hospital, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.

According to witnesses at the scene, a driver of a black vehicle was fleeing from a previous crash when he drove through an intersection and T-boned a silver Honda, killing two people inside that car. The driver of the black vehicle allegedly fled the scene on foot. This information was not confirmed by the sheriff’s department.

The fatalities were a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, according to Lt. Al Barajas of the sheriff’s Palmdale station. No further information was released by the sheriff’s department as of Sunday afternoon.

Sheriff’s officials are urging anyone with information regarding this crash to call the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station at 661-272-2400.

UPDATE:  A news release issued Monday, Feb. 1, by the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station gave more details. According to the news release, a black 2015 Chrysler 200 was traveling northbound on 10th Street West in the #2 lane when the vehicle ran a red light at Avenue O-8 and collided with a dark gray 2018 Honda Civic that was traveling westbound on Avenue O-8.

“The driver of the Chrysler fled the scene on foot prior to the arrival of law enforcement. Both the male driver and male passenger of the Honda Civic succumbed to their injuries on scene,” the sheriff’s news release states. Read it here.

I hope investigators are using DNA and latent prints to identify the other driver involved since this is vehicular homicide.

God bless the families of these two young men. I am saddened by your loss—such a selfish and inconsiderate act by the hit and run driver, truly disgusting.

May God give strength to the mother and father, brothers and sisters of the two young men who were violently struck down by an evil sinner. And may God quickly allow for the capture of the evil sinner who did this and may he burn in hell for all eternity.

Yes, what happened was a terrible tragedy and the driver needs to be severely punished, within the confines of the law. Interestingly enough though, as a believer you KNOW God will forgive EVERY sinner who repents. Just as YOU and I are forgiven everyday. Aren’t you thankful that God doesn’t judge us the same way we judge our fellow human race? I sure am!!

REMEMBER TO CHECK CROSSING TRAFFIC EVEN WHEN YOUR LIGHT IS GREEN BECAUSE THERE MAY BE A DRUNK DRIVER OR STUPID DRIVER RUNNING THE RED.
