Becerra remains committed to principle of challenge over census

by City News Service • December 28, 2020 4 Comments

Xavier Becerra, Donald Trump

LOS ANGELES – California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said Monday he remains committed to the principle of a challenge to President Donald Trump‘s plan to exclude people living in the country illegally from the population count used to allot states seats in the House of Representatives.

Last month, California led a multi-jurisdiction brief to the Supreme Court in Trump v. City of San Jose, which, building on an earlier district court win, pushed back on the president’s attempt to undermine a complete, accurate census count by altering the census’s long-standing process on apportionment.

In challenging Trump’s census memorandum, the state was joined by the cities of Long Beach, Los Angeles and Oakland, as well as the Los Angeles Unified School District and Los Angeles County.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday vacated the earlier judgment, and sent the case back to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California with instructions to dismiss for lack of jurisdiction.

The challenge demanded that the federal government include undocumented immigrants in the census count to determine congressional representatives and boundaries. In a memorandum, President Donald Trump sought to exclude people in the country illegally from the count used to allocate seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“A complete, accurate census is about ensuring all our voices are heard and that our states get their share of resources to protect the health and well-being of all of our communities,” said Becerra, who is President-elect Joe Biden’s nominee for secretary of health and human services.

“We remain committed to the core principle that everyone counts,” Becerra said. “Here in California, we’ll continue to stand up for each and every person who calls our state home.”

I agree with Xavier Becerra. Most undocumented immigrants are hard working people that pay taxes, and even pay billions into Social Security each year that they are not entitled to collect. The IRS issues ITINS to undocumented workers. Kevin McCarthy understands what goes on because of where he lives, but won’t address the issues regarding undocumented immigrants that keep Kern County thriving. Undocumented immigrants have always kept California’s economy moving.

… Xavier Becerra owes his allegiance to Mexico, not America. Xavier Becerra represents Mexico. He could care less what’s best for Californians –

What an idiot Becerra is. He may as well fight to include visitors to California on the census. It has nothing to do about the idea that everyone counts. Every CITIZEN should count. Illegals should have absolutely no influence on seats in the house. THAT would be a great example of foreign election interference. Every illegal should get nothing but a bus ticket to go back and do it the LEGAL way.

Becerra is a communist and the spawn of criminal illegal immigrants. He is truly an enemy of the people and only supported by illegal foreigners and Kalifornia communists. How dare he tell us anything. He should be humble and grateful we didn’t turn his parents into ICE.
