LANCASTER – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car in Lancaster Sunday night.

He was 27-year-old Devonte Tyler and he was homeless, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The fatal collision occurred around 9:41 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at the intersection of Avenue J-8 and Sierra Highway in Lancaster, according to a news release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

“Preliminary investigation indicates a female adult driving a mid-size sedan was southbound on Sierra Highway when a male adult entered the roadway at Avenue J-8 and was struck by her vehicle. The female adult stopped at the scene and immediately called 911,” the news release states.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, but they were unsuccessful in life saving efforts and Tyler was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:50 p.m., according to the county coroner’s office.

“The cause of the collision is still being investigated. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor,” the sheriff’s news release states.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact traffic investigators at the Lancaster Sheriff Station at 661-948-8466.

I’m so sick of these homeless/vagrants crossing the roads without using sidewalks, and crossing where street illumination is poor. Most of the time they are wearing dark clothes so I can barely see them. So, hypothetically if one were to run them over, we are the ones 100% responsible for what happens to them? Think about this absurdity.

I think that they try to play “suicide by car” or they’re looking for an early holiday meal like jello on a warm hospital bed.

@qwerty…..Right? These desperate, poor, homeless humans beings that sleep on the streets and eat out of trashcans inconveniencing your cushy suburban life. What if your SUV got a scratch on the door, or you miss one of you soccer mom meetings? Me, me, me, me, me.

Right? How ignorant and just plain heartless these people are. I pray that none of your kids die at the hands of a person like you chastising the dead. Not even god forgives a shit bag like that, remember that cause you will have to speak for yourself at the gate nobody else gonna do it for it. Burn baby burn!

And Rest In Peace to the fella who was hit, despite what these wealthy white people are saying, you deserve the Same respect as they do when they die. And condolences to the family, what a sad sad story.

“The female adult stopped at the scene and immediately called 911…”

That is how it is supposed to be done.
