2-year-old boy killed in Palmdale crash, driver arrested for DUI

by The AV Times Staff • November 16, 2020 7 Comments

PALMDALE – A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI in connection with a single-vehicle crash in Palmdale Sunday night that killed a 2-year-old boy who was riding in the car, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 9:10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, on Avenue P east of 240th Street East, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Devon D. Dorsey of California City was driving a 2006 Ford Fusion westbound on Avenue P when “for reasons yet to be determined” he steered to the right and the car hit a raised dirt embankment and overturned, ejecting the 2-year-old boy.

The toddler suffered fatal injuries due to the collision. He was identified as Michael A. Bonner of Rosamond, according to a CHP report.

Dorsey sustained minor injuries in the crash and was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the CHP. He is being held on $100,000 bail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this collision,” a CHP report states.

A woman and a girl riding in the car were injured in the crash. Shonterra Dillard, 23, suffered moderate injuries, and Mytia Bonner, 3, suffered minor injuries. They are also from Rosamond, the CHP reported.

The woman and the children are related to one another but the driver is not related to them, the CHP said. Further details were not immediately available. Anyone with information on this collision is encouraged to call the CHP’s Antelope Valley area office at 661-948-8541.

Were you trying to say “Justice for Devon”?? You think 100k is too high and “racist” for a fkn drunk driver that took a child’s life? How the hell can you say justice for him when a 2 year old baby is dead cause he was drinking and driving????

“The woman and the children are related to one another but the driver is not related…”

The irresponsible new man in Shonterra’s life.
