Rosamond man killed in Lancaster crash

by The AV Times Staff • September 8, 2020 9 Comments

LANCASTER – A 35-year-old Rosamond man died Sunday night after being ejected from a vehicle that went out of control, flipped several times, and burst into flames, authorities said.

The collision happened around 9:27 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, on Sierra Highway, south of Avenue A, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The motorist was driving a 2012 Hyundai Sonata southbound on Sierra Highway when, for unknown reasons, he steered the vehicle “in an easterly direction, across the northbound lane of Sierra Highway and off of the roadway causing [the vehicle] to overturn several times,” the CHP report states.

The overturned vehicle reportedly caught fire, and flames from the vehicle spread to nearby grass, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman.

The motorist was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification, but he was a 35-year-old man from Rosamond, according to the California Highway Patrol.

“Alcohol (and/or) drugs are suspected to be a factor in this collision,” the CHP report states.

“Tragically, another life was lost here in the Antelope Valley. This is the 26th person killed so far this year in Antelope Valley CHP jurisdiction (SR-14 and unincorporated Los Angeles County),” the CHP report states.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact Officer D. Jackson #21569 at the Antelope Valley CHP Office at 661-948-8541.

I can’t believe your comment passed the screening here. You shouldn’t point fingers because as the native American proverb says “The one who points his fingers has three pointing back at him.” WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE?!

That’s a pretty rotten thing to say. A guy is dead and that’s all you can say? Better to have said nothing! and it could easily happen to you and I hope you never have the feeling imparted to you that you imparted to the man’s family! He is one of God’s family too you know.
