LANCASTER – A portion of the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway will be closed Tuesday evening in Lancaster for bridge preservation maintenance.

The freeway will be closed between Avenue G and Avenue H, with northbound lanes closing at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, and reopening at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, and southbound lanes closing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, and reopening at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, according to Caltrans Public Information Officer Marc Bischoff.

Crews will perform maintenance to preserve a bridge, part of a project to preserve 11 bridges on State Routes 14 and 138 in Los Angeles County, Bischoff said.

“The work involves applying methacrylate on deck, replacing joint seals, resurfacing the deck with polyester overlay, and replacing approach and departure slabs,” Bischoff said.

“This project will improve bridge health, improve safety, enhance ride quality, and extend the service life of the structure,” he added.
