Lancaster mayor embraces hydrogen as the next clean green fuel

by The AV Times Staff • August 28, 2020 13 Comments

[Virtual Lancaster City Council Meeting on Aug. 11, 2020]
LANCASTER – During a City Council meeting on Aug. 11, Mayor R. Rex Parris announced plans to transition to hydrogen clean fuel as part of the city’s green energy portfolio.

Clean fuel emits fewer greenhouse gases, contributing to less pollution and cleaner air.

“Hydrogen is becoming the go-to green fuel for power generation, energy storage, fuel cell cars, and anything natural gas has been used for. It is similar to natural gas—without the CO2. Fortunately for us, Lancaster has a plethora of renewable energy,” Parris told the Council “I encourage the world to join me as Lancaster embarks on a brave new path.”

Parris outlined the benefits of hydrogen power and traced Lancaster’s path toward integrating hydrogen into its power grid and fuel energy plans. He began by describing the latest trend toward hydrogen cars that many major manufactures are selling and leasing, with the expectation that many more will soon follow suit.

Lancaster, which achieved its 2010 goal of becoming the first Net Zero City in the world last year, continues to be at the forefront of green energy.“We produce more clean energy—mostly solar—than Lancaster consumes,” Parris said. “We did it thanks to very pro-business policies. More importantly, we are making money on it. It actually made us more efficient.”

According to Parris, Lancaster is quickly becoming the center for companies involved in this new hydrogen economy, the next major milestone for the city.

“As the world is waking up, more and more families are at risk. We must do something” Parris said. “People are taking note, which is evident in that Japan and numerous private companies with hydrogen projects are reaching out to us. Investment is just one of the many benefits we are receiving as Lancaster models the hydrogen challenge for other cities.”

Parris announced to the Council that the next step is to further integrate other green fuel sources, including hydrogen, into Lancaster’s green energy portfolio. “It’s incredibly exciting that Lancaster is going to be the pinnacle of a hydrogen-powered society for the nation,” Parris said. “Until these hydrogen projects started coming online, I didn’t think there was any hope for my grandchildren and most of your children because of the climate extinction trends. For the first time, I think we can get a handle on this. We are going to survive this and thrive because of this.”

Parris needs to make sure he is up to date on Alternative Fuels especially the production of Hydrogen….A big Plant would have to be built somewhere i nthe valley to produce the amount of Hydrogen needed. Does someone hear the clinkage of coins in Parris’s pockets while the valley suffers under the possibility of a stinky production.

Hydrogen fuel sounds like a good idea. The problem is if Rex is supporting it, you know he’s making a buck. He does nothing that doesn’t line his pockets or the pockets of his pals. He is green only if he can make some green. A total fraud.

    At this pont,
someone sold him our collective mindset of market research data and paid us nothing in return.
We were all looking at this from-09-013 everyone wanted to be enlightened for a time it was good we learned alot, then in 014 the laws changed and media became stronger and the influence pushed through all under heaven.
Its a regurgitation of the inevitable input. Water right could be the biggest problem of all.

What does Mayor Parris and former President Obama have in common? They both bought Beachfront Homes while talking about Global Warming crisis! Some people would say this is two faced elites dictating how we should live our lives while they live the good life and do things in another way then they preach.

Fusion power generation is what we need. The Mayor’s stock investments do not need our support.

Whatever Rex wants or says is usually wrong, wrong, wrong.

From the “destination” blvd to the spy plane to the painting streets to resurface them and on and on.

His City Council members are weak at best. One of them is getting so large he is gonna explode but stress keeps him feeding the pie-hole.

At least he isn’t a phony fireman like in Palmdale. Rented fireman suit and helmet is a lie.
