HACIENDA HEIGHTS  – An 18-year-old Lancaster man and three others are in custody on $1 million bail each on suspicion of committing a home-invasion robbery at gunpoint in Hacienda Heights this week.

Michael Brown, 18, of Lancaster; Jimmy Griffin, 18, of Tarzana;  Jonathan Oliva, 18, of Los Angeles; and Tyler Evans, 22, of Los Angeles were arrested on suspicion of various crimes — including robbery, kidnapping and false imprisonment — in connection to a crime that was reported Tuesday, Aug. 4, in the 2200 block of Oldridge Drive, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“A violent home invasion robbery had been reported where several suspects rushed into the home of an elderly couple who had just returned home. The suspects, armed with a pistol, forced the victims throughout their home demanding cash and valuables. The suspects fled with several thousand dollars and valuable jewelry. The victims were traumatized but not physically harmed during the incident,” the news release states.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau and the Burglary-Robbery Task Force canvassed the neighborhood and used witness statements and nearby home security video footage to identify a likely suspect vehicle, according to the news release.

“A short time later, patrol deputies from the South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station located the vehicle and detained several individuals within it… A pistol, personal property, including a purse, ID, and wallet belonging to the victims, cash and jewelry [were] recovered from inside the vehicle, ” the sheriff’s news release states.

The firearm that was recovered had been reported stolen from a July 22 home invasion robbery, also in Hacienda Heights, according to the sheriff’s news release.

The four men were arrested and transported to Industry Sheriff’s Station where they were booked into custody.

According to the sheriff’s news release:

Michael Brown was booked on charges of robbery, kidnapping, and false Imprisonment. Brown has a criminal history that includes arrests for burglary, assault on a peace officer, and felony evasion.

Jimmy Griffin was booked on charges of robbery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, and felon in possession of a firearm. Griffin is an ex-con with a criminal history that includes arrests for burglary, robbery, vehicle theft, and spousal assault.

Jonathan Oliva was booked on charges of robbery, kidnapping, and false Imprisonment. Oliva has a criminal history that includes arrests for burglary, possession of stolen property and vehicle theft.

Tyler Evans was booked on charges of robbery, kidnapping, and false Imprisonment. Evans has a criminal history that includes arrests for robbery and felony assault.

A 17-year-old boy was also detained in connection with the investigation. His name was not released.

Suspect Jimmy Griffin, Male 18, of Tarzana, was booked on charges of Robbery (211 PC), Kidnapping (207 PC) and False Imprisonment (236 PC), and Felon in Possession of Firearm (29800(a)(1) PC). Griffin is an ex-con with a significant criminal history including arrests for burglary, robbery, vehicle theft, and spousal assault. He is currently in custody with a $1 million dollar bail.

At age 18, he’s a felon. He was the one with the gun (felon in possession of firearm). It sounds like he’s one of the people nobody should be hanging with.

Cowboy must live under a rock. TYLER EVANS is NOT an innocent person. NO F****** WAY. OPEN YOUR EYES DUDE! NOBODY DESERVES TO HAVE THEIR HARD EARNED BELONGINGS TAKEN FROM THEM AT GUN POINT!! America and it’s tax payers bend over backwards to help everyone that is struggling. All these young adults could have gone to college IF THEY WANTED TO and gotten a good job. They just don’t want to put in the work. Plain and simple. I don’t have any sympathy for these kind of folks.

While you’re distracted by this, Trump’s buddies are ripping off the country and your tax dollars. Trump is grifting off the campaign money to rent rooms and services at his resorts for “campaign” events.

When they say “Trump resorts” they really mean he resorts to anything to direct money his way, legal or not.

He’ll need the $$$s to pay lawyers to try to keep him out of a New York prison when he leaves office January 20, 2021…if not sooner.

I am glad the elderly couple was not physically harmed, but victimization in one’s home is pretty traumatic. I hope they are able to recover from the emotional and psychological damage done. There are other ways to hustle money people, no need to inflict harm on another to get your needs met.

Also Hacienda Heights means they went to jack the Asians, who keep all money at home due to distrust of banks, and their mostly cash businesses they operate,
      Just sayin.

Gotta admit. I can understand the BLM comments during things like this and assaults on elderly street vendors just trying to make a living. As criminals make mistakes, serious ones, so to is it unsurprising for others to be less than angelic in their responses. Non criminals are also human. Still, lets gather ourselves and remember that generalizing race behavior is not in most peoples’ supposed beliefs – quite easy. The ones who i would more expect less understanding from are the actual victims, unless you have higher than normal racist tendencies already, and your not able to admit it openly. How about a focus on practical solutions like reporting suspious behavior. Ive been followed in Hac. Hts. & Rowland Hts. by young men in luxury cars. They were also driving reclessly, speeding past me, and braking in front of my car after I had passed them earlier for going too slow. And, it was multiple cars, seperated a mile apart, doing this. And, i feel that ive been followed before. I always drive around the neighborhood to lose them. This is mostly at night. Now i see this news and i am not at all surprized. They probably followed that elderly couple home. Pass this information on. That is one way to do something.
