PALMDALE -Detectives are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver and vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of a 40-year-old man in Palmdale on June 12.

The fatal collision happened around 9 p.m. Friday, June 12, on Rancho Vista Boulevard between 25th Street West and 27th Street West, according to a Palmdale Sheriff’s Station news release that identified the victim as “Daryl Baker, a husband and father of two.”

Baker was crossing the street when he was hit by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival, according to Detective Danielle Day.

Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact Detective Day at 661-272-2423 or email ddday@lasd.org.

First and foremost, RIP to the victim.

Second,, to the driver… You dumb axx… The fact that you dan, makes it a felong hit a d run. Had you stuck around, a d assuming the impact happened mid-block, you could have walked away with just the emotional scare to deal with… But not even a citation!

Third, to the average pedestrian out there who thinks they can prance in the middle of the street as a challenge to a vehicle that will crush you like a cockroach, understand that unless you are in a marked crosswalk, with the “Walk” signal in your direction, you need to get out of the street. If you get hit while outside of a crosswalk, and regardless of what injuries you sustain, it is your fault for getting hit, the driver walks away.

Forth, to all bicycle riders and skateboarders. The cross walk belongs to “pedestrians”. If you want to be treated like a pedestrian, act like one…. As in “get off your bicycle or pick up your skateboard and walk across the street”.

Back to you in the studio….

    Distracted pedestrian?

Does it really matter now if he was distracted if the driver fled? My wife found him in the street. 911 was not answering from being busy during the chase/shootout that same night around the same time this man was probably hit. A nurse stopped after seeing my wife stop to help the man. Somebody had to have seen something. I know there were some high school seniors from different AV High’s at Marie Kerr celebrating Senior Sundown that might have seen something. This was not far from the fatal hit and run that happened in February that killed a motorcycle rider

Could have very likely been a DISTRACTED DRIVER as well!
The only one who honestly would know is the driver who took off after they had hit this man and left him there to just die alone… He had a wife and two young sons, HE and those lil’ boys didn’t deserve for him to be taken away in such a manner (as if the driver had hit a squirrel by the side of the road and it was nothin’ and kept on goin’… smdh at people and their lack of HUMANITY these days). So SAD!☹
R.I.P Mr. Daryl Baker… I pray the Lord sends your sons and wife, and other loved ones, peace & comfort soon.

Are you the driver? Maybe”Fled” is the person that fled the scene.
