AV Fair & Alfafa Festival will go on as planned in August

by The AV Times Staff • May 29, 2020

LANCASTER- Organizers for the Antelope Valley Fair & Alfafa Festival said the show will go on as scheduled in August.

“The Antelope Valley Fair & Alfalfa Festival has existed for 82 years, and together we will continue to be an iconic event, providing countless opportunities and lifelong memories. We will have a 2020 fair season. We will not quit, we will not cancel and we will prevail! We are AV Fair Strong,” according to a statement designed to quash rumors of a shutdown.

Some fair activities may be virtual, but others are expected to take place on the fairgrounds as usual.

” Yes, it will be different, yes it will be safe and yes it will be memorable. Many of us long for our traditional experiences, but we must be agile and committed to staying connected to each other and to our community in new ways as we recover safely together,” organizers promised in the statement.

Current plans include hosting the Kiwanis Jr. Livestock Auction in late August, as well as select virtual exhibit competitions, battle of the bands, community stage performances and possibly drive-thru fair food.

Good ol boy connection gets you on the board so you can play big shot around the Fairgrounds with your stupid vest on. The good ol boys have destroyed the fair we once all loved in the name of Destination Lancaster. Problem is Lancaster is not so good of a destination.

It’s Mine is so right the fair board is the biggest joke in the AV. We have Camacho the biggest crook in the AV, the UAV guy making a fake college, and Angie Hughes and her crooked husband just itching to get his vest once he steals more money from the prison guards to buy his way in. Then good old Dan J being the manager probably getting a kick back allows this BS to take place. I know his father would be so disappointed in the job he has done. It will never be fixed its gone in the wrong direction way too long now. This years theme is a prime example no one cares anymore. Say What we ran out of Bud Light. Send the Hughes boy to the liquor store and tell him to buy a new shirt the Air Force Academy polo shirt you wear everyday at fair is getting tight.

Union thugs are partnered with rich kid Republicans to serve on the Fair Board. These people cannot get elected so they get a appointment. Serving their masters and I’m not talking about the fair goers.

Political intimidation!! It’s all about getting the partners to pay the cost for Lancaster’s program and they do. These weak leaders are unable to say no as they want to avoid negative attention from Rex and Marvin and the Republican Party.

The real AV Fair ended when they Closed the “Elks Ride”. Five wooden Tokens good for 5 Large Draft Beers for a Dollar and the giant all Schools all Classes Reunion on Saturday Night. Old school mates would come from many States to Party. Those WERE the Days.

Your right! The AV Fair is financially in trouble because of lack of community connection. Besides this may be a giant Virus incubator by August and the last place you want to be. Let’s do not put money over lives.

The fair has gone downhill ever since the Rex regime took over. Just like everything else in Lancaster. The east side is a mess, the BLVD is overrun with homeless people, and our crime is high.

Like the Jethawks folding the City of Lancaster has a go alone approach to the Fair and the Jethawks baseball and could end up losing both due to bad locations. People are not impressed with Lancaster managing these facilities into the ground.

Bad location for sure. For many of the good ol boys who were able to pick the location of the fairgrounds, they knew it comes with big time public investment like free money. The names of owners at the time would certainly raise eyebrows if we looked back some current big shots too. They only got free roads and sewer. .
