Palmdale Regional Medical Center open for medical emergencies

by The AV Times Staff • April 20, 2020

PALMDALE – Palmdale Regional Medical Center is reminding the community that its Emergency Department is open for medical emergencies, including support for heart and brain procedures relating to heart attacks, stroke and more.

In a news release issued Monday, hospital officials said they have begun to see patients that have waited too long to come to the Emergency Department for life-threatening conditions due to fear of being exposed to COVID-19.

“At this time, when home isolation is often encouraged, we want to remind you this is not the same as medical isolation. If you are having symptoms that could possibly be an indicator of a medical emergency, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, trouble lifting your arms and weakness, please visit your nearest Emergency Department… We would like to stress to you that prolonged medical isolation for concerning symptoms may have detrimental effects on your health and we encourage you to seek immediate medical care in these situations,” officials said in the news release.

If you are having mild respiratory symptoms or flu-like illness, it is best to stay home and manage your symptoms in consultation with your primary care provider, according to Palmdale Regional Medical Center. This helps to protect you, your family, and the patients in the Emergency Department.

PRMC always forgets to mention that they ONLY take patients with healthcare insurance only; if you are part of the majority of the Antelope Valley area who do not have medical insurance coverage , they will “refer” you to Antelope Valley Hospital: if you go to their Emergency Room and you do not have healthcare insurance, by law they have to stabilize you, then they will ship you to Antelope Valley Hospital for further exams.

Did you think it was a free clinic , BOBDOB?

Was Steve Knight for Obamacare when he was still in office? Most Republicans were out to dismantle it..

So, if you have a problem with PRMC taking only covered patients take it up with the GOP.

What other private business model has to offer free service to those who can’t afford it…..restaurants, hotels, car dealerships, massage and tattoo parlors.?

I got pneumonia last February couldn’t breathe and went to the ER they’re at Palmdale and laid in the floor for 4 1/2 hours and no one helped me. I went to an urgent care and got help right away. Then Palmdale hospital sent my insurance a bill for $1500 and me a bill for $1200 for doing absolutely nothing. That hospital is a [removed] hole

I had surgery at Palmdale Regional Hospital recently & got excellent care.. It was very clean, staff was excellent & would recommend this hospital over Antelope Valley…Many hospitals ”Nationwide” have put off ”Elective Surgeries” due to COVID-19, which has cost them a lot of money. All our Drs. are on Staff at PRH. I’m glad to see they are accepting ”Emergency Patients”!!

Unfortunately the exact population that’s supposed to be protected by the stay at home order are the exact population that’s being adversely affected. Preventative screenings cancelled, follow-up examinations for cancer growth cancelled. These “elective”procedures are detecting or preventing illness & death in the elderly & postponing procedures also allows adverse unintended consequences

I’ve heard only bad stories about this hospital, maybe people just don’t want to go there…..
