Palmdale launches “Take Me Home Tonight” campaign to boost local restaurants

PALMDALE – The city of Palmdale has launched “Palmdale: Take Me Home Tonight,” a restaurant promotion to help the Palmdale community during the coronavirus pandemic.

“To support our local restaurants during the current coronavirus situation, we’re partnering with them to promote local takeout and food delivery options that you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home,” said Palmdale’s Economic Development Manager Luis Garibay.

The move is in response to California Governor Gavin Newsome’s recently announced new guidelines for restaurants, bars, wineries and brewpubs, as well as the Los Angeles Department of Public Health’s announcement that restaurants will be closed for dining in, and only take out will be available.

“These measures will have an impact not only on local restaurants and their employees, but their vendors and suppliers,” said Palmdale Mayor Steve Hofbauer. “Through our ‘Take Me Home Tonight’ campaign, we are making it easy for residents to enjoy a great meal at their favorite restaurants while helping friends and neighbors whose livelihoods depend on these businesses.”

An interactive map at https://cityofpalmdale.org/915/Take-Me-Home-Tonight will allow people to easily download menus, find special deals, and get more information about their favorite local restaurant.

Residents are also encouraged to submit the name, contact information, hours of operation and a photo or PDF of the menu of the restaurant they wish to have included on the map to EconomicDevelopment@CityofPalmdale.org.

“Help us spread the word by encouraging your family and friends to support our local businesses whenever we can,” Garibay said.

The city will be announcing further measures to assist businesses and residents through its Palmdale Cares Campaign on the City’s Facebook page, City of Palmdale – Government.

    • Gabi: I obviously upset you so much that you have to lie. You know I’m not a man, so there is no clever ruse. I support the elected mayor of Palmdale and you don’t like that. Why the clever ruse Gabi? Why are you so upset? Call your hateful friends, Bill, Eyes, etc., to either get with the program or stay in your miserable state of mind. Well, there are those few comments about this article that don’t think supporting local businesses is a positive. “Help us spread the word by encouraging your family and friends to support our local businesses whenever we can.” Garibay said. Thank you also Mayor Hofbauer and those involved. I know a lot of people that are happy with Mayor Hofbauer.

    • Name one. He’s done very little so far and he’ll likely do even less now. He’s helped spend the surplus on pet projects and now when we need that money, where is it?

      Some people are happy with Rex and Trump too. So? There’s a low standard for happiness it seems.

      Sending a message to support local businesses is nice but that’s not much. You think it’s a big deal.

      • I do think it’s a big deal. When you start providing evidence, I will. Anyway the voters chose Hofbauer and people are moving on. You go right ahead and stay bitter and unhappy. Anyway, the voters will decide whether Mayor Hofbauer will be voted in for a 2nd term.

        • What has Hofbauer done since he became mayor, Alexis? Put out a message to support local businesses. Is that it? That’s been a Palmdale message for years.

          You provide some facts and we’ll go from there.

          Otherwise, you’re just shooting your mouth off as usual on every subject.

        • We have a recession coming if we are not already in one. Let’s see how Hofbauer handles it. Mayor Ledford did very well through the ups and down of economy. Hofbauer is good at taking credit for things already in the pipeline.

          I doubt he’ll do very well.

          You’re the person, Alexis, who has said “This is a place for opinions, not facts.” I guess you can’t help talking out of both sides of your mouth once again. You have no creds here just shifting stances. Maybe there are 2 of you.

          Happy, you say? People are happy with the mess Rex has made of Lancaster. He won the election.

      • Eyes on Hofbauer or William: My head would be in the sand if I believed your irresponsible comments about Mayor Hofbauer. Provide evidence, otherwise you’re spreading lies. Supporting local businesses is a big deal during this pandemic, but not to you, because you’re too self-centered. The voters chose Hofbauer, so either go along with the program or remain in your unhappy state of mind.

        • William never provides any facts, but he wants you to provide a list of facts. His mind is closed like a steel trap so don’t waste your time.

          • Yeah, but he does it with style and wit. I enjoy debating with him. He supplies some needed energy here, and knows more than most.

            You thought it was going to be good times forever with Trump in office and with Rex pulling your strings, er, supporting you.

  8. Mayor Ledford navigated very well through the recession in the early 90s and again during the Great Bush Recession of 2008. Through thick and thin.

    So far, Mayor Mustache has done little during the good times he inherited. We’ll see how well he does with the COVID pandemic affecting Palmdale. I don’t have my hopes up with him.

    I understand he’s blow through the rainy-day surplus already on pet projects. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
