LANCASTER – Antelope Valley Hospital received the Silver Performance Achievement Award from the National Cardiovascular Data Registry and the American College of Cardiology for its performance in caring for patients with heart attack symptoms. The hospital was one of 86 facilities nationwide to receive the honor.

To receive the Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award, AVH demonstrated sustained achievement in the area of chest pain and myocardial infarction (MI) for four consecutive quarters and performed at the top level for specific performance measures. The award comes on the heels of the hospital’s chest pain center earning re-accreditation last year.

“I am proud of the team here at Antelope Valley Hospital for their work in providing our region the most effective response, treatment, and care to patients experiencing chest pain and other heart attack symptoms,” said hospital CEO Edward Mirzabegian. “Our staff is dedicated to delivering exceptional care and consistently exceeds national standards when it comes to quickly diagnosing and treating heart-related conditions.”

Heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the United States, with 600,000 people dying annually of heart disease. More than five million Americans visit hospitals each year with chest pain.

In addition to being a certified Chest Pain Center, Antelope Valley Hospital is a STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction) Receiving Center, which means it has the training, equipment and processes in place to immediately treat patients experiencing an acute cardiac myocardial infarction (heart attack).

In 2015 the hospital also became the Antelope Valley’s first Advanced Primary Stroke Center, which signifies that the hospital has the equipment, infrastructure, staff, and training programs needed to provide care based on the most current research and standards to foster better outcomes for patients who have had a stroke.

What a joke. This place is rated only one star out of five by the federal government; below the national average in mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timeliness of care. Fix the basics.

I don’t know who they paid for this study, but AV Hospital isn’t tops in anything. By far the worst hospital I have ever had to go to. There have been so many instances where they have cared for family and friends and made things exponentially worse.

Ive had the worst care there. They left a open wound on my ankle uncovered for 3 days. By the time i left i had caught a bad infection in it. 2 years trying to fight this infection i almost lost my foot. I would ask for ointments and bandages no doctor would give me medications for it. By the time i got out and showed my primary he was so angry they did nothing and i got bad infection the flesh was dying. The also took me off my blood pressure and diabetic meds i was on to give me what ever the doctor on call wanted. Due to this my whole stay my blood sugar and blood pressure was so high out of control. This was not the nurses fault. It was the doctors that come on for every shift. None would approve medication for my wounds. They changed my meducation off what i was on and worked. Most of the shifts id ask to see a doctor and they didnt come see me most of the time. I felt so bad for the nurses that do most if the work. They see the patients know what they need ask the doctors and the doctors deny it. From in my room i could hear doctors talking to staff like they are dirt. Its sad i almost lost my foot and leg because of the doctors. It was scary. I was in so much pain from spinal damage and the doctors didnt listen. Ive only had one good stay there during spinal surgery. Dr parsa in palmdale made them keep me on all my meds and he checked on me. But if your dr isnt on their staff and they give you a new one each shift change its horrible. The doctors have god complexes and the poor staff is so over worked.
