PALMDALE – Three men were killed Tuesday morning in a head-on collision involving their vehicle and a big rig in the Palmdale area.

The crash occurred about 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, on Pearblossom Highway between 60th and 70th streets East, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Two men died at the scene, and the third died at a hospital, the sheriff’s department reported. Their names were withheld, pending notification of relatives.

The man driving the big rig was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau: “A Nissan truck traveling south on Pearblossom Highway collided with a semi-trailer truck traveling north on Pearblossom Highway. The force of the impact caused the semi-trailer truck’s cabin to erupt in flames.”

“At this time, it appears the Nissan truck veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in the collision. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor,” the sheriff’s news release states.

Pearblossom Highway was closed in both directions in the area, and California Highway Patrol officials said the closure could last into late afternoon. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Palmdale Station Traffic Detail, Detective Sherman at 661-272-2400.

Always an excuse. How about just slowing the Eff down and paying attention to the rules of the road.
    It’s really not that difficult.

The real reason WHY this accident and many others happened in that area are not the driver’s fault. The real reason is the CRAZY CONDITIONS this road is (Pearblossom HWY). From Tejon Road, all the way to the 14 FWY has the asphalt coming apart. We see drivers trying to avoid the HUGE potholes on that Road. The worst part is that this trench is not on list of repairs f that the City of Palmdale released two months ago. No funds were contemplated by the STATE for the repairs, at least for the next 3 Years.
Drivers should blame even sue NOT the City of Palmdale, but the State for the conditions and continous deaths on this road. RIP these bikers.

Jesus Salinas…where this incident happened there are no potholes unlike the rest of the 138. This is the area between the Littlerock and 4Points. Aside from the road curving, there are no other real dangers. And what bikers? I think you’re referencing to the story from Sunday.

Wait what about the GAS and DMV tax hikes! The gas tax is now .18 up from .12 per gallon lets not talk about the ignorance of non rational voters whereby we could have repealed this yet road improvements running at a Snail’s pace??? Hmmmm????

Jesse, if you read the story, the accident was because the Nissan pickup with three people inside were driving on the wrong side of the road. It is not unusual to see people driving on the wrong side of the road because they think it is more important to pass cars in traffic on the wrong side of the road. And the people killed were in a pickup truck, not on bikes.

The good news is that a texter is dead where he belongs. This texter could have killed me but I will live another day. Hurray. I see all of these stupid texters all day long. They think they are immune. I bet i saw this guy testing on the corner of East ave S and 47th st east in Palmdale or maybe on Sierra Hwy, Lancaster blvd or on some other street. Mr and Mrs Tester does it with impunity until one day, SLAM!

I have lived in the Antelope Valley since 1983, and the AV roads have always been deadly. Due to social media every other accident is reported so it seems like so many more today. The truth is it always happened and always will. It’s not the road conditions it’s the fact that most drivers drive so long and far for work that many dose off, text to stay awake they say. Many years ago people were killed trying to swerve from hitting rabbits. The 138 both East and West have always been death traps. The West side no one is expecting too see another car so they don’t bother stopping at stop signs. 138 East is a single lane hwy in most spots and cars passing each other at 80mph with one slight move you just crossed traffic. For over 30 years the 138 has had many meetings about how to make it safer, all talk and no action. One quick cheap fix to end head on collisions is put a center divider down the middle between the two lanes like the freeway. The rumble tracks didn’t work, making it wider shows it is not working either.

Oncoming Traffic, except in the last month, either I, my wife, or both of us have almost been taken out at 87th East and Pearblossom because some semi driver decided he didn’t have to stp on the westbound side at a red light. They just went through the lights and didn’t give a damn that they almost hit us.

Nicholas Toth…in this stretch of Pearblossom the road runs North to South. It’s the area between the wash and 4points.

138 run east to west. The simi was traveling west and the trunk was traveling east
