Lancaster man sentenced for killing appliance repairwoman

LANCASTER – A Lancaster man convicted of killing a woman who was sent to his home to repair a refrigerator was sentenced Thursday to 55 years to life in state prison.

Superior Court Judge Carlos Chung imposed the term after finding that William Franklin Hughes III, 32, was sane at the time of the July 14, 2017, killing of 36-year-old Lyndi Fisher, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

On May 29, a jury convicted Hughes of first-degree murder, with the judge subsequently left to decide the issue of whether Hughes was sane or insane at the time of the crime.

According to the sheriff’s department, Hughes told deputies that Fisher had been injured while fixing an appliance at his home in the 43200 block of Doverwood Court. He told the deputies that he had briefly left his home and that he saw Fisher unresponsive on the floor when he returned.

Fisher was actually strangled by Hughes after she arrived at his home for the appliance repair , according to Deputy District Attorney Ryan Williams. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hughes was arrested the following day and has remained behind bars since then.

    • It had nothing to do with Trump. I was this man’s roommate for many months, he ran a bible study and worked at Mental Health America and took wonderful care of his home, his health, his recovery, and my animals. This has everything to do with Meth and schizophrenia. He told me when he was sober he gets violent on drugs. I was shocked because he seemed like such a nice, gentle giant type person. He made his choice to get off his meds and relapse and he thought his parents were sending spies to his house. I found this out after through a mutual friend. That person and whoever else he talked to did nothing to report this or intervene and probably did meth with him too. If you see something, say something, if you get sober, don’t go back out, you don’t know if you have another chance at recovery and ANYTHING can happen, you don’t have it under control, when you enter drug psychosis you don’t know it. I know, been there, done, that,walked down the street naked. If you have mental illness stay on your meds and in your programs, don’t self medicate. Nobody has the level of control we think we have and we all need to let go and let God and be willing to seek appropriate treatment. If you see something say something, nobody else will, you need to be brace and take the initiative. Jesus offers the free gift of salvation if you ask him for it, come as you are, he loves us all unconditionally, ask him to save you, in your own words and you will never be away from him again no matter what happens you are saved, it’s not taken away and he will guide you I. The next steps to take. Be honest, willing, and open minded. If you can’t believe in Jesus ask for your own personal higher power to save you, it could be a twelve step group or a doorknob, you just need to be willing to try something different and stop the insanity of doing the same thing over and over and getting different results.       • First off, I can control myself. Second his parents didn’t want him living with them because he was so dangerous. Geniuses decided “let’s buy him a house”. Why not kick him to the curb and say get help or be homeless. Instead they helped this thing by enabling him to do whatever he liked. Is it true that he beat his own father up and mommy bailed him out of jail to protect him? They should have left him in there and let him get what he deserved. Instead , mommy enabled him to murder.
