Authorities ID knife-wielding man killed by security guard in Palmdale

by The AV Times Staff • April 17, 2019

Clayton Prejean

PALMDALE – Authorities Wednesday identified the naked, knife-wielding man who was shot and killed Sunday by a security guard at a McDonald’s restaurant in Palmdale.

He was Clayton Paul Prejean, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. Friends of Prejean who asked not to be identified said the 29-year-old was a father of two young boys and an aspiring rapper. Prejean, also known as “Cdot,” was loved by his friends and family and will be missed by many, his friends said.

The fatal shooting occurred around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the McDonald’s located at the 2427 E. Avenue S, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Witnesses said Prejean first crashed a car into a nearby Carl’s Jr. restaurant before heading to the McDonald’s. Prejean took off his clothes before he went into the McDonald’s, where he stabbed a man, Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

Prejean then left the eatery and assaulted an armed security guard who confronted him, Koerner said. The guard, in turn, fired at least one round, striking Prejean in the upper body, Koerner said.

The man who was stabbed was hospitalized with stable vital signs.

A knife was recovered at the scene, Koerner said. The incident remains under investigation. [KTLA has video from the scene. View it here.]

What a mess. As awful as it is, the security guard did the right thing and probably saved more lives. Hoping the elderly man is OK.
Before you write Prejean off, think for a minute…no one crashes their car, walks into a McDonald’s, and stabs people unless that person is really out of his mind. I’m wondering if he had previous signs of mental illness or if he was a drug abuser. May his soul rest in peace.

There should be zero tolerance for mental health related violence. These people are rabid animals and need to be treated as such.

He could have hurt people with his reckless driving, stabbed a man in his 80s, and could have done a lot more damage had the brave security guard not stopped him. This man was a P.O.S.. F-him, and if you support him, then you need your brain checked.

Instead of glorifying this ‘aspiring rapper”, The security guard who ended this rampage should be given a real BIG atta boy. Had the guard not attacked, this could have been worse than it ended as

Kids need to be taught morals, values, and manners!!

What do the people that were traumatized have to say? The man he stabbed was in his 80’s.

I heard he was running from the landscapers trimming the trees near the shopping center. He got scared because when they started their chainsaws, the chainsaw said “rrrruuunnnniiiganiganiganiga”

You need to edit this article. Why are you talking about how wonderful friends thought he was and then as a side note mention the stabbing and attacking the security guard? Doesn’t matter what they thought of him…. fact is he almost killed someone and put many other lives at risk. Stop glorifying and making victims out of the criminals.

Well Said chrlrss! AV Times should be ashamed of themselves for making this sound like a sob story for this clown. Let’ mention the security that was attacked first and then capped that dude stopping any other assaults.

Security guard should be getting the praise not this [removed].

      Fix the story AV times.
