Lancaster conducting “Phase II” of citywide pothole repair this week

by The AV Times Staff • March 26, 2019

LANCASTER – The city of Lancaster on Monday deployed five two-man Public Works crews to conduct the second citywide comprehensive pothole repair project of the year, officials announced.

Through Thursday, March 28,  four of the crews will be dedicated to filling potholes, with each being assigned to a specific grid in the city. The fifth crew will address pothole issues reported directly to the city via the Inform Lancaster mobile app, as well as the city’s website. Once directly reported pothole issues are resolved, the fifth crew will join the other four crews working the grid patterns.

Public Works pothole repair crews will be working in the streets of Lancaster for four days [March 25-28]. Citizens are asked to be aware and patient while traveling through the Lancaster.

“Taking care of our city, and especially local thoroughfares, is an ongoing responsibility that both we city officials and city staff take very seriously. This is why our Public Works crews are back at it with this intense effort to resolve as many pothole problems as possible in another short, concentrated period of time,” Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris said in a news release.

To notify the city of any pothole issues in Lancaster, download the City’s Inform Lancaster mobile app, or visit www.cityoflancasterca.org to report a problem. For more information, check out the video below.

“Taking care of our city, and especially local thoroughfares, is an ongoing responsibility that both we city officials and city staff take very seriously….” So this simply means poorly patching the holes, paying for expensive reflective signs that read “Your tax dollars at work rebuilding California”, and paying more in registration and gas! Was it not the intention of the gas tax to fund the repairs of aging and deteriorating roadways? All I see are crews doing an awful job of refilling the potholes and getting in the way of traffic, all while my transportation expenses go up!

What is our mayor’s the plan for the streets with severe road conditions (potholes, warped, cracked, etc.) like Ave K West? Those repairs are long overdue!

Rex’s plan is to continue to spend $90K a month on his failed Eye in the Sky, load up his commissions with his kids and political pals, spend most of his time at his beach house in Laguna, sue whatever school district or city he can over voting districts that he won’t implement in Lancaster, ignore East Lancaster, continue to annex property in Antelope Acres for his solar farms, criticize groups like Better Neighborhoods for being just a law firm that likes to essentially extort cities, and stuff like that.

Roads? The roads are fine in Laguna.

I was told by the city that those roads not in town are maintained by the County. I was inquiring about Ave L west from 45th up. My question is why doesn’t the city of Lancaster and Palmdale push the issue of repair with the County ? Most people don’t know about the roads owned by the County, just like I didn’t know that.

Please resurface 30th Street West between Avenues M and N. They have been horrible for years. Most people going south drive close to the shoulder or close to the line down the middle.
