LANCASTER – A sheriff’s deputy shot and wounded a man with a knife in Lancaster Sunday evening, authorities said.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in the 500 block of West Milling Street in Lancaster, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“Lancaster Station deputies responded to a 911 call regarding a male Hispanic adult who was possibly mentally ill and armed with a knife. The suspect was holding the knife to his own throat and walking around local businesses in the area of Milling Street and Sierra Highway,” the news release states.

Responding deputies found the suspect at the end of an alley, behind the businesses. When they tried to talk to him, “he advanced toward the deputies while holding the knife in his hand and a deputy-involved shooting occurred,” the sheriff’s news release states.

The suspect sustained at least one gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to the news release. The suspect’s identity was not immediately released.

No deputies were injured in the incident and no further injuries have been reported.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting is encouraged to call the sheriff’s homicide bureau at 323-890-5500. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.

Now that City Council is hiring a consultant to tell the Sheriff how to do their job. The problem has always been councilmembers telling the Captain how to do his job so the outcome is less than optimum. What a compleate waste of time and money, let them do their job without interference from the City Council.

Marvin Christ threatens to withhold Booster support dollars or City Council dollars or whatever board he is running if any of them refuse his demands. Just ask the Board of Afraid as the Outlook Conference is going back to the boring fairgrounds instead of the excitement of Mohave Air and Spaceport the commercial spaceport companies are making news everyday but of course that is not important to the likes of Rex and Marvin.

Lancaster Blvd and Sierra is a long way from Laguna, or the cabal members’ houses on the west side, so “the city” is unconcerned.

Laguna has no solar farms, no panhandlers downtown, no hookers in sleazy motels on its highway. Residents of Lancaster know all too well how solar farms have ruined the west valley, how dangerous the BLVD is and what Sierra Highway has become.

Nothing gets done about it because our mayor lives in Laguna.

Public Safety is number #1 and only districts can get our Lancaster Eastside some City Council attention. When you see how successful Palmdale’s Eastside has become compaired to ours. It’s time!
