LANCASTER – A Lancaster man has been charged with murder for allegedly beating his 93-year-old great-aunt with a baseball bat in the home they shared.

Marc Robert Ellison, 36, is due back in a Lancaster courtroom Jan. 16 for arraignment in the slaying of Mildred Mary Jensen.

Jensen was killed Nov. 7 in the 44200 block of 23rd Street West in Lancaster, according to Deputy District Attorney SuSu Scott.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies went to the home following a report of an assault with a deadly weapon and found the woman, who suffered blunt force trauma to her upper body, Deputy Charles Moore said.

Ellison was detained at the scene, and a weapon was recovered, authorities said.

Ellison could face up to 26 years to life in state prison if convicted of the murder charge and an allegation that he used a bat as a deadly weapon.

The mantra of those who want to inject politics into everything, and make excuses to do so. Even an article about a 93 year old woman beaten to death by a family member doesn’t escape the ignorance of commenters that serve their own political agenda. It’s a good idea that family members of this woman can overlook their ignorance, and focus on the path of healing.

The tragic death of a 93 year old woman at the hands of a family member has NOTHING to do with politics.

I dunno. Politics is making a lot of people much more angry than they have been in the past, so there are a lot more people on edge that could go on tilt out of the blue. Not saying this is one of them, but to say tragic deaths are universally unrelated to politics is a stretch.

There you go again, Tim. Read my comment about this article. No, this is not one of them, and now you are doing your usual melodramatic input out of nowhere, saying something about “tragic deaths are universally unrelated to politics is a stretch,” which are your words, not mine. Stay focused on this article and keep it simple, if that is possible for you. Read my words please. this death has nothing to do with politics.

Really? You know that how? People have been killed over all kinds of petty things. I don’t claim to know what set this dude off, and I haven’t seen anything from you to indicate that you do either…so a statement out of the blue that “well it wasn’t about X” is just bumping gums and gnashing teeth…which you are well known for.

Somebody below posted a comment about the guy wearing a MAGA hat. Maybe she knows him, or maybe she just made that up, but that’s how politics got into this. I didn’t do it, but you don’t get to undo it just by blanket stating things you don’t really know.

What in the world could a 93-year-old woman do to make someone so mad that he would beat her to death?

Most people who are angry aren’t really angry at any specific person, or about what that specific person has done.

Food, generally. Of course you are undoubtedly talking about something from your own experience rather than mine.

By all indications we’d be much better off keeping Michelle and having the Trump train continue on out of the country…preferably off the end of a long pier into a deep ocean.

RIP Ms. Jensen. Batman deserves nothing less than the maximum sentence.

He could face 26 years in prison. This is why people don’t think twice about committing horrific crimes or any crime for that matter. More than likely he’ll get 10 years or less. The death penalty needs to be enacted, enforced and used without hesitation when you have this kind of proof right in your face! Prison is like Disneyland for many of these thugs. Free health care, free food, free lodging, free sex and easily obtainable drugs. Rope is cheap.

You should try a little research on the subject. Apparently, hardly any criminals had any idea what the sentences for their crimes might be until they met their lawyer after they were caught. So saying “raise the sentences to deter crime” has no foundation in fact, since criminals don’t know about the sentences to start with.

For “crime of passion” murders, which this certainly appears to be, the evidence says that sentencing makes no difference at all. Someone who “goes over the edge” in a fit of anger has no thoughts related to getting caught, getting punished, or anything else after the fact.

It may make a difference in regards to premeditated murders, where during the planning process the possibility of punishment undoubtedly comes up. However, the planning process usually revolves around planning how to not get caught and unless the killer is satisfied that they won’t get caught they will keep on planning. They act when they are convinced that they will not get caught, so again raising the stakes is not likely to be an effective deterrent.

If you want to advocate in favor of the death penalty, be honest about it. “A guy who takes a bat to his grand-mother is a guy who has no business on the planet and I want the state to kill him for me, or even let me do it myself” is valid enough.
