LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday renewed rewards in a Lancaster hit-and-run death and a suspicious disappearance in Palmdale.
Supervisor Kathryn Barger asked her colleagues to extend a $10,000 reward for information leading to the motorist who struck 21-year-old Rodney Tyrone Richard on Lancaster Boulevard near Elm Street about 2 a.m. on Aug. 4.
Richard was crossing the eastbound lane of Lancaster Boulevard from parking spaces located in the center median when he stopped and faced oncoming traffic before turning again and trying to run out of the roadway. He was hit by a full-size white GMC or Chevrolet truck with chrome side steps that was traveling east on Lancaster Boulevard in excess of the posted 15 mph speed limit. The driver fled without slowing or stopping.
Barger asked anyone with more information to call sheriff’s Detective Ryan Bodily at 661-940-3811.
Barger also recommended renewing a $10,000 reward in the case of 23-year-old Jose Juan Ahumada, a Palmdale man who went missing amid suspicious circumstances nearly nine months ago.
The last known sighting of of Ahumada was about 7 p.m. March 5, when he was seen leaving his residence in the 37000 block of Tamara Place to drive to a nearby store in his black Toyota Scion. He never returned home, and his car was found 10 days later in North Hollywood.
Ahumada was described as having short brown hair, brown eyes and an “Ahumada” back tattoo. He was last seen wearing a black sweater, blue pants and black shoes.
Barger urged anyone with additional information to call sheriff’s homicide detectives at 323-890-5500.
Each of the rewards had been set to expire soon, but will now be available for at least the next 90 days.
People with information on any of the cases may also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).

Regarding comments for cartel;
Definition – HISTORICAL
a coalition or cooperative arrangement between political parties intended to promote a mutual interest.
(Please use the internet for its original purpose… research and discovery)
Elddib says
Eye on Palmdale fits that description to a T. A cooperative arrangement between Rex puppet Republicans and Democrats united to line their pockets off of more nepotistic deals, no bid contracts such as LEAPS and Insite, and charlatan low quality products such as Traction Seal and BYD busses.

Lancaster Blvd was redesigned by a group of idiots on drugs. It is probably the worse designers most unsafe street in the whole valley. I will not drive down that street anymore which means I boycott all the stores on that street. It is an accident waiting to happen.
Ron says
But the idiots on drugs who designed it made sure their political donors made a lot of money. That’s how it works in Lancaster and that’s what’s coming to Palmdale now that the Eye in Palmdale cartel is in charge.
Elddib says
A political cartel, not a drug cartel. Called the Eye on Palmdale. A PAC. Look them up. Richard Loa is point person. He will he rewarded a council seat for his work. Funded by the Lancaster political machine. They are in charge and is does not bode well for the citizens of Palmdale. The cartel will thrive.

And, yet. the center parking rows are typically full most days. I suspect that employees of the various buisnesses park there so it doesn’t look deserted.
I stopped by the blvd recently to use the Bank of America ATM only to discover that the bank is no longer there.
Is there any business still there from the start now that bex closed.
RIP says
Closed on the BLVD – Bex, GBD Grill, Lemelle Theaters, Barone’s, Brittany’s, Kinetic, Vintage Styles Now, Multiple coffee shops, hot dog place, Maribel’s, a catering place, and others. Lemon Leaf is leaving. Tattoo shops are the most stable. You have to wonder how some of them stay in business.

“Richard was crossing the eastbound lane … when he stopped and faced oncoming traffic before turning again and trying to run out of the roadway.”
This sounds like an alcohol-fueled game of chicken. The hit-and-run driver needs to be apprehended and serve time.
Serve time says
Yes, the hit and run driver needs to serve time.
