Man arrested for allegedly killing his wife in Palmdale

PALMDALE – A husband who told hospital employees he assaulted his wife who was found dead Thursday at their home in Palmdale was arrested on suspicion of murdering her, authorities said.

Deputies were called to a hospital about 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, after a man there reported that he had assaulted his wife, according to a news release by the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“Deputies contacted that individual and learned that the male adult had assaulted his wife at their residence,” the news release states.

Investigators went to the couple’s home in the 38500 block of 11th Street East in Palmdale and found the woman had suffered trauma to her upper body and she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release. Her identity has not yet been released.

“After further investigation by homicide detectives, the suspect Neil Edgar, a male white, 41 years old, has been arrested and charged with murder,” the news release states.

Edgar is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.

To the family of this victim sorry for your lost does not even cover your pain I know, last year my Sister was ran over and killed by her abusive husband for not having dinner ready when he came home. Like with your loved one they called it domestic violence no it was not domestic violence which would imply more than one person was involved my sister like your loved one did not see what was coming there was no domestic abuse. Stay strong use each other to find comfort especially your family members brothers and sister (The post said she had them) because they are a direct extension to your loved one. My family is torn apart and it hurts so bad don”t let that happen to your family..

  2. I would first like to start by saying I am so sorry for this families lost. I did not know the victim directly however I do know people who did know her and nothing but wonderful, heart warming, kind, beautiful things have been said. I was told she always saw the good in people. I was wondering if true (to kinda be fair) did the mother of this man receive a text prior to the murder and if so does anyone know why she did not take action to save this women’s life especially given her sons violent background. Also was wondering if it is true that he was on parole and one of the terms of his parole was to drug test and if he tested dirty he would be pick up for parole violation several months ago he tested dirty and was never pick up. Again to the family please accept my deepest condolences.

  3. Where is the mug shot to show if he had any marks on him? And are they going to try him for the death penalty? May God rest her soul, this is so terrible.

      No there is no mug shot with any type of marks on him it did not happen. We do not know if the death penalty is on the table. He has been charged with murder in the 1st degree. At this time we are not really keeping up with him or his case. We are just trying to mourn our lost and get thru this horrible time. Our whole entire family circle near and far has been shaken to the core. Thank you and God bless you for reaching out..

This Beautiful Lady was a family member I cant begin to describe the Heart Break and Pain our entire family is in and will be and all the (WHY’s) I really wish she would have gotten in a few good punches/hits in however she did not this low life hit her from behind one blow to the head with a hammer deeming her unconscious. And to the Mother of this animal who received a text she was in trouble GOD HELP YOU. You did not send the Police to do a welfare check perhaps all this could have been avoided. My family member gone and you son a killer.

  5. Tim Scott: he took himself to the hospital two days later with no marks or defense wounds. So two days later would tell any person with half a brain that he was not hurt. Why he went to the hospital to tell his story instead of the Police no one knows Maybe that question will be brought up at his trial. He attacked her with a hammer from behind she did not fight she did not see what was coming. What I do know is she sent a SOS text to his Mom 20 mins before the attack and his mom did nothing did not even send the Police to the home which was 1/4 mile from Police Station. And after the attack he went to his parents home there were no further text messages from the Mom inquiring about her well being which kinda tells me their son told them what he had done and the Mom had prior knowledge that something bad was going on. Any one in the Palmdale area please do not use this KILLER’s family business knowing and doing nothing MOM to save this poor women’s life you will have to deal with your own demons that will surly haunt you for the rest of your life. Just think Mom you could have stopped a murder and did not..

    • Why are you litigating this here? You say you are the family, provide a bunch of information that maybe the family would have access to, and insist that based on the information you provide everyone should come to the same conclusion you have.

      Based on the information you have provided I derive exactly the same result from it that you have.

      Now, since I have no idea whether you really are the family, or whether the information you have provided is accurate and complete, I realize that my agreement is meaningless, but if you really are the family and it somehow makes you feel better, great.

          You seem to be missing the point.

          The information available is contained in the LASD press release, which has been summarized in the article here. Anything posted in the comments section, by you, me, or anyone else, isn’t information. If more information comes to light, then that will certainly make a difference.

          I claim no access to any other information, I just make observations based on the information at hand. If those observations conflict with information that you have access to, then ignore them. Or say that you have access to information that contradicts them so you don’t believe that I’m correct. That’s fine with me. Heck, if you want to meet me and show me some additional information that I should consider I’d even take the time to do that, though I can’t imagine why I would be important enough to you to do that.

  6. I pray that everyone who ever hired Billy Edgar’s company in the last 6 months were not also victims to Neil’s sick behavior. Child sex trafficking, child pornography, kidnapping, attempted murder etc. Because Neil worked for that company and his Dad was aware of the monster he is and put his customers directly at risk for danger!! We the family will never be the same, ours hearts are hurting beyond belief her children have lost their Mom her Grand babies have last their Grandma.All 11 Sisters and Brothers have lost their youngest sibling. Please do not blame the actions of this animal on the victim. Preliminary information would indicate that she did not fight at all. Please keep in mind this is a career criminal who knows the systems and how to work it. And for the person that claims his parents are great people well they raised him so you go figure. And if they are great people why have they not reached out to the victims family offering their condolences.

  10. He went to the hospital two days later killed her Tuesday went to the hospital Thursday, stayed with his brother who may have told him to go to the hospital I don’t know. But what I do know she lay there two days while the Brother,Mom and Dad knew she lay there.

    • I’m so very sorry. I recently got to know her. So sweet, kind, generous and accepting. She talked endlessly of the love she had for her children and grandchildren. I absolutly loved that about her! I can’t imagine how much you will miss her, I do already.

  15. This man was born for prison. The world was to complex for him. He could not find his way. He was born for a structured incarcerated life with sleep time, meal time, and recreation times and planed out. Clothes and shoes all picked out for him, this is what he can be comfortable with in life. Beyond that, outside the cage he was an undomesticated animal. He is this way because he is genetically defective. Unfortunately, his children may probably be the same. His father and brothers may possibly be the same. Genetics are everything. There is no cure except to prevent them from procreating. The only other hope is Jesus, but only few find him.

  16. I’ve known the victim for 21 years. She is a loving mother of 5. She has 6 grandchildren who she helped care for. She helped raised other nieces and nephews in the family as well. She was always trying to help and care for others in need.
    She is not a threatening or violent person. She has never harmed another individual and never would. Bring justice to her and her family. He is a relentless man with a long standing violent criminal record. He confessed to the brutal murder. His lies are just an attempt to make himself appear in a better light.

    • I have no way of knowing who was the aggressor, and from what it says here there aren’t any witnesses who can say with certainty either. He did wind up at the hospital so she wasn’t completely defenseless.

      No doubt he will claim self defense, and you should be prepared for an extended legal battle. I’m sorry for your loss.

          I comment here based on the information available here. I don’t claim any deep secret knowledge. I never claimed the guy had any specific injuries that I heard about from a secret source at the hospital. I just pointed out that there is a logical progression of events. For some reason the idea that she might have fought back with some minor degree of success seems to just crank some people’s screws.

          If you know for a fact that he attacked her, she never got a lick in, he beat her to death and took no harm in the process, then I have a question for you, you cowardly eyewitness…why didn’t you stop him?

          Here’s the truth, you have no more “secret knowledge” than I have.

This happens too much in this society, and please don’t pay attention to commenters that don’t what they are talking about. Self defense will not be accepted in his case, because of his long history of violence.

        • He took himself to the hospital and there is no mention of him being injured, so you are just making assumptions. And most people don’t just sit passively and let someone murder them. The murderer frequently is injured in the process of committing their heinous crime. The fact that he lived and was able to take himself to a hospital is a travesty. He should have flung himself off the highest building and done the world a favor.

          We don’t ever get to hear her voice again or feel her arms hugging us. You should stop saying such ignorant things and implying she played some part in her death, when there is only one monster to blame.

          • Tim Scott, just stop. She didn’t hurt him bad enough for him to go to the hospital. That’s not why he went. He went after most likely sitting around formulating some sort of plan with his family to spare him rotting in prison the rest of his life. The point was that if he was hurt it wasn’t because she wasn’t defenseless, it was because he a. injured himself in the attack, as many do, or b. maybe, just maybe she fought back. But the family knows the details, and she didn’t fight back. She was attacked, and she didn’t know it was coming. There are many family members posting here, and believe me, we all know things you do not know from having only read this article. Yes, it would be great to think that she injured him, but you are speaking from a place of ignorance, and it’s just upsetting the family because of the way it’s coming across.

        • Nowhere in any article, including this article does it say he went to the hospital to have wounds cared for brought on by this woman who lost her life. It is nothing but your twisted take, blaming the death of this precious soul, because of her actions. He and he alone is responsible for her death, because of his uncontrollable rage. Prayers for all those that loved her.

          • Nowhere does it say that uncontrollable rage played any part in this, but you are willing to jump to that conclusion. You are also incorrect when you say I am blaming her death on her actions. I’m looking at the given facts, no more no less.

            After a fight with her he went to the hospital. You may want to claim that he is such a confused individual that when he wanted to report that a fight had occurred his first thought was “hey, the hospital is where they take that sort of report,” but it seems far more reasonable to think he went to the hospital for treatment. You may, for some inexplicable reason, find it offensive that she defended herself well enough to get some licks in that hurt him. Why you seem offended by that idea I cannot begin to guess.

            Now, a hospital treating someone for injuries that obviously result from a fight will always ask what happened and will call the police if the answers warrant doing so. I’m guessing, but it seems a reasonable guess, that that is how police ended up checking on her. Again, if you want to follow down the ‘he just thought the hospital was a good place to report his crimes because he wanted to be caught’ theory you can explain this some other way.

            Nowhere in this article or any other coverage have I seen any FACTS as to what the fight was about or who started it. Given his record he seems the most likely candidate to have been the aggressor. As the only surviving witness he is almost certain to say that she was and claim self-defense. Fortunately, the burden of proof for a self defense claim is on him, so unless the cops come up with some really compelling evidence that supports his claim it isn’t going to fly.

            If you want him found guilty of murder you should probably stop throwing around that “uncontrollable rage” bit and look for indications of premeditation or a calculated intent, because prosecutors are usually content to take a slam dunk, and the slam dunk would be him copping to manslaughter and calling it a day.

          • Nowhere in this article does it say he went to the hospital to be treated for wounds, Tim Scott. It does say he told employees he assaulted his wife and that is why law enforcement was called. So you are jumping to the conclusion that someone sent him to the hospital, (implying she did), which has nothing to do with the facts. Without taking the time to comprehend what the article actually said, you automatically put your ignorant spin on what was never said. He has a long history of uncontrolled rage, and he has hurt a lot of people, and your non factual opinion is irrelevant.

            Now, someone do me a favor and explain what would be so terrible about her landing some sort of damage on him in the course of getting beaten to death.             If we go with the general assumption that he was a violent jerk who attacked her and beat her to death I for one would be perfectly happy to find out that somewhere between the first punch and the last she buried a finger in his eye clear to the second knuckle.

  21. Yes he is billy Edgar’s son. Joel Edgar’s brother. They have a company local to the Palmdale Lancaster area Edgar and sons hearing and air. Joel Edgar is a drug addict, Neil is a child molester check his public criminal record he was a monster who was let out of prison after 15 years for armed robbery and kidnapping, then he was part of the local child sex trafficking and child pornography ring that got busted a few years back in Lancaster, they let him out again and then he murdered an innocent mother of 5. He wasn’t married to her, she wanted to get away from him actually but was scared. Before anyone comments anything else please be aware that people close to this amazing woman may be reading this and if anyone has any sense or intelligence this guys rap sheet is available online look him up he deserves no pity and really he is the type of person to gloat about this if he gets the chance to read it.
