LANCASTER – A 28-year-old Palmdale man died Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash in Lancaster, authorities said.

The time of the traffic collision is still unknown, but officers were dispatched around 9:43 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, to the Avenue L onramp to the southbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

Preliminary information indicates the driver was in a 2004 Honda Accord headed eastbound on Avenue L at an unknown speed when he entered the southbound SR-14 on-ramp, veered left and hit a concrete raised curb, according to the CHP report.

“Following this impact, the Honda traveled out of control and into a culvert located between the main portion of Avenue L and the on-ramp. The Honda subsequently collided [with] a tree,” the CHP report states.

The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification, but he was a 28-year-old Hispanic man from Palmdale, according to the CHP report.

The collision is still under investigation. Anyone who witnessed this crash is encouraged to contact the CHP’s Antelope Valley Area Office at 661-948-8541.

UPDATE: The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Michael Alarcon of Palmdale, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

… but for no good reason than their inability to control themselves, their alcohol, and their cars, the Mexicans are driving up the cost of insurance, for everyone.

Yesterday I realized what should be the new symbol for the AV: a screaming, snotty-nosed, dirty Mexican kid.

While you ppl saying negative things about this man look what his family had to say:It brings me of great anguish to have to communicate the loss of a great brother, friend and combatant of OUR great Union. Michael Alarcon Jr. wasn’t just another apprentice who was inspiring to be a great Journeyman, he had ambitions to want to be apart of something that was going to turn his community into a Blue Collar Union Town. When ever his local called upon him he was there, whenever he wasn’t working he was there at the AV Weld Shop, whenever a brother/sister was in need he was THERE For All Of Us. Mike gave the true meaning to the name AV REGULATOR and a Great Union Man. He wasn’t one to sit back and hope for the best nor allow anybody else to put up a fight for the betterment of his brothers/sisters without getting his hands dirty. The kid did nothing but GIVE unselfishly to his Local and never asked for anything in return. He was one hell of a man❤️. On late evening of October 16th at the young age of only 28 he tragically lost his life in a car accident. Words cannot describe the heart break that I have for him and his family. All that I ask is to please keep the family in your prayers and if you have any questions regarding services or want to be of any help to the family please contact me at

Ok now if the family n friends of this man who list his life make it past all the rudeness that may be funny in private to some with morbid sense of humor but is rather rude n cruel to be posted on an open comment where it may be seen by those who would only be hurt further, if they make it past that n even see this please accept my sincerest condolences n sympathy for your loss n wishes that you are able to find comfort and strength to get you thru this time of sadness and hurt and loss until the time when what may seem hurtful now becomes a memory of the happiness n love of your loved one. Peace to you all.

The picture looks like the person is under the car to the side… This accident may have had different results if the person was wearing a seatbelt. it does suck big time, and i saw on some other stories that the driver was a union iron worker and a good person. PLEASE people the comments I read here are not going to get anywhere but under peoples skin. Adults should be better than this. When I grew up here in the AV people were there for you and family, even if they were not. RIP and my condolences to the family.

    Hello Laura,

Thank you so much for your insincerity and lack of respect for human life- its truly appreciated! As a close family friend of this man that died, I say this from the bottom of my heart… have fun in hell! Now, as a Mexican-American woman whom, despite popular belief, does not need to be handled by a man, can handle my alcohol, and drives a brand new car without a single dent on it… you are a C U N T.

    Have a fantastic day.
