Where did you get those details? You sound like a police detective who worked on the case.

Only a police detective would have access to autopsy information.

A security guard doing his job would have shot him in the leg or foot etc…this man was shot in the stomach..SIX TIMES..he did NOT BRANDISH A GUN NOR DID HE HAVE ONE..SO WHERE IS THE THREAT THAT WOULD CALL FOR GETTING SHOT SIX TIMES IN THE GITAL AREAS THAT RESULTED IN DEATH?? CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN? Had he shot him in the foot leg etc. the man would have fallen to the ground giving the guard a chance to detain him until the cops came therefore “Securing” the business…mission accomplished by the guard…. RIP PETA…

No one who uses a gun in their job is intended to, trained to, encouraged to, or expected to shoot ANYONE “in the leg or the foot” EVER. You can be upset about this event and I’m sorry for the loss of your friend/relative/whatever, but absurdity offers no refuge.

Unfortunately the security guard took it upon himself to be judge, jury, and executioner.

In his defense, if you are providing security to an illegal enterprise it isn’t like you can just call the cops.

Of course, he shouldn’t have taken a job providing security at an illegal enterprise.

I knew the robber who was shot and I’m not going to make excuses for him ..however..I agree with the comment on the fashion that the event took place..did he threaten to kill everyone. Did he even have a gun. or did the security guard see an open opportunity for vengeance because of a prior mishap with the robber and took it??none the less..my condolences are to pops and Terry and may you rest in peace ..”PETA”

the city gave them a business license and allows them to stay open so it isn’t illegal …unless they deviate from business plan.

    • Tim Scott says

      October 3, 2018 at 10:13 pm

To the best of my knowledge Lancaster has never issued a business license to a casino, so it seems that, yes, they deviated from the business they were licensed for. That actually seems pretty simple to follow.

    • Tim Scott says

      October 1, 2018 at 2:17 pm

We may never know if he ever was. In an illegal enterprise “attempted robbery” and “dispute with disgruntled customer” can be hard to tell apart, and an armed “security guard” on the payroll can be expected to deal with either one in a similar fashion.

Security guard that is trigger happy well i think needs to be investigated by a second investigation because something needs to be done for making a big mistake. Need 2 press the issue for an internal investigation. Lets see how the security guard once convicted and behind bars. He will probably pc up because he won’t stand a chance. Security guard is nothing but a scary bitch who was most likely high and just flopped out and now trying to cover up a mistake. What happen to the second suspect that supposedly was there. Guard [removed] up.

Great job security guard! Do bad things expect bad things. No sympathy for the robber.

    • Tim Scott says

      October 1, 2018 at 10:10 am

Depends on how “attempted to rob” turns out to be defined. If two armed guys walked in threatening everyone in the building, I’m all for shooting them. If this attempted robbery was two kids on their way to school trying to shoplift a five dollar phone charger I don’t think execution without trial would be appropriate. We are probably somewhere in between those extremes, and until we know where I can’t say whether it was a “great job.”

        • Tim Scott says

          October 1, 2018 at 10:45 am

Yeah, missed that. So that extreme was a little further out in the extreme than it could have been. Doesn’t really change my point though. Without knowing the nature of the “attempted to rob” it isn’t really possible to say “good job” on this, yet. At least not in any sort of informed way.

Pre-emptively, before someone says that anyone out and about at 12:45 is obviously up to no good and deserves to be shot…if you believe that be prepared to be asked why the internet cafe is even open at 12:45 then.

Because it’s a front for a illegal casino.
Had a couple of them busted here in Palmdale a few years back…
            They make lots of money.
I’m surprised none of these thugs have hit up the bingo games out here, always plenty of money at them!

Well, yeah. I was hoping to let the law and order types tub thump a bit about how only a good guy with a gun can protect good, law abiding citizens from the rampant criminal elements that roam randomly about before I mentioned that.

          October 2, 2018 at 12:49 pm

How about if I said it this way:

“Hired thug employed by operators of illegal casino shoots employee of neighboring business who threatened to call the police.”

Not saying whether that is or isn’t what happened, just trying to see how committed you are to your “any bloodshed is always a good thing” position.

A security guard is hired by an employing party. If that employing party is running an illegal casino, called a 24hr internet café, and two people come in supposedly to rob, then you have a security guard, guarding illegal activities, shooting and killing a man that he justifies killing, doing the same thing he is, right?
