PALMDALE – A motorist in a pickup truck was killed Friday night in a head-on crash with an SUV in Palmdale, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 10:10 pm. Friday, May 25, on 50th Street East, north of Avenue P-8, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A male driver in a 2012 Toyota Tacoma was headed southbound on 50th Street East when his pickup truck drifted into the opposing lane of traffic, directly into the path of a northbound 2006 Ford Explorer, the CHP reported.

Both vehicles collided, and the pickup truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.

The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 53-year-old woman, was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital with moderate injuries, and her passenger, a 39-year- old man, suffered minor injuries and was also transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, according to the CHP.

The CHP’s Antelope Valley area office is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to 661-948-8541.

UPDATE: The deceased was identified as Donald Hall Fontenette, 49, of Palmdale, according to coroner’s Investigator Kristy McCracken.

Roads with the speed and traffic of 50th Street East should have physical separation between each direction of traffic. Then none of this would have happened.

So sad for the Driver that lost his Life. Prayers to him and his Family. I travel this road everyday. I almost was involved in an accident when a plumber driving his van passed me going northbound at the curve area and there is solid double yellow lines and another car traveling Southbound was approaching the Van and I had to go into the shoulder to let this dangerous driver get in. Drivers need to be respectful on the roads. Not that the above situation wasn’t.

Every time there is a traffic accident, all the commenters with a narcissistic personality disorder, have to voice their hatred toward anyone that isn’t just like them.

After the Mexican American war Mexicans were allowed to stay in California therefore making Mexicans the majority in California so live with it

More Mexicans have California drivers’ licenses, than Californians. Thanks to governor Moonbeam, half the citizens of Mexico are now proud owners, of a California drivers’ license.

Re: Barry maybe Californians should take care if their driver licenses than they wouldn’t be crying about it.

Really? So the more than 1 million licensed illegal aliens is a higher number than the 26 million Californians in your mind?
