LANCASTER – Adoption parties will be held at the Lancaster Animal Care Center and other sites in Los Angeles County on Saturday in connection with Hallmark Channel’s Kitten Bowl V telecast Sunday.
There will be 500 adoption parties throughout the nation, according to Hallmark Channel. There were 25 in 2015, 50 in 2016 and 100 in 2017.
Kitten Bowl V will air at noon and be replayed at 3 p.m. It features displaced kittens rescued from the nation’s most recent natural disasters engaged in various football-like activities. The Kitten Bowls have inspired the adoption of more than 10,000 animals, including hundreds of puppies and dogs, 13 rabbits and a pig, according to Hallmark Channel.
The Hallmark Channel makes a year-round effort to highlight the plight of homeless animals and the joys rescued and adopted pets bring into lives under the theme “Adoption Ever After.” The other efforts include the American Rescue Dog Show, which will air Feb. 19, and the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards, which annually airs in late October.

I did finally find out that the extra kittens/cats that had been rescued from the latest emergencies (Fires and mudslides) that were delivered to Lancaster were delivered to a contracted shelter for Lancaster city still linked to the County. It took me a long time to find this place, but I had been told is was on 4th St. E only. Believe it or not, the first place I found this shelter was the business directory for BeachCalifornia.com. Which came me the address which finally led me to the City of Lancaster. So far these two places are the only two places that I found this shelter on.
Told the three people in Palmdale about the high amount of cats and kittens brought to Lancaster shelter for this event. one was looking at the cats listed in Lancaster and told me that there were no high amounts of cats and kittens at the shelter according to the computer then sent me to 50th and I, the only one they mentioned. Went to the Lancaster shelter on 50th and talked to someone in the front office and asked about the felines that were supposedly had been dropped off the day before for the Kitten Bowl. She also didn’t know anything about that, but directed me to the Catery. Again that person knew nothing about the extra cats and that she had been working the afternoon before, knew nothing about it either. There was supposed to be flyers on the bulletin board, I didn’t see any, saw the dog and cat of the week from that shelter, but no flyer.
So one, why was this such a secret and why is this shelter which I am being told is contracted with the county. If it is contracted with the county that is paid from tax dollars, It should be made public. If you look at the Lancaster City site, it also says that “There are six shelters throughout the County, each serving several contract cities and all unincorporated County areas.” There are 7 official county shelters, sounds like 6 would be the number of shelters like this. So if this is an online News Paper can they find out what all the secrets are about?
I did find this on the county animal control web site yesterday and it does say that the event incudes today Sunday Feb 4, 2018

I had been told last night by a person who was told by a person who helped unload a lot of kittens for this event in Lancaster. She told the other person that it was at the LA County animal shelter in Lancaster. I went to both Lancaster and Palmdale. They know of the advertisement to get people out and adopt. But they know nothing about any kittens being brought up for the even. We can’t get a hold of the original person, but the in between person claims that there are 3 county shelters in the Antelope Valley and it does not include Castaic. She seems to think there is one in Palmdale and two in Lancaster. Does anyone know anything about this

Kittens turn into cats in about a years time. Adopt a cat.

You didn’t mention what the price will be during this event and the times of the event? Is there any way of getting this information tonight
Tom says
$50 a cat, and open regular business hours for Saturdays. Go to Petsmart, you’ll get a health cat. Animal control is full of sick animals, that will effect any cats you might already have at home, and they wont help you with medical aid once it leaves the compound.

Thank You if they didn’t do home checks I would. I don’t like people I don’t know coming to my house. I’ve basically raised three cats through out my life into their 20’s (One was actually 19) So I think I do fairly well with them. sad that people don’t trust people any more. Palmdale seems to be a nice clean facility. Plus now with your comment there will be some people that will not even go out there which just put a death sentence on quite a few animals that may have been adopted instead.
